Estimator in Alton, Hampshire

Market 36 Recruitment are currently recruiting for an Estimator / Cost Engineer on behalf of our client based in Alton on a permanent basis.

Roles & Responsibilities

* Review technical engineering drawings and prepare detailed cost estimates for high-precision engineering components and assemblies.

* Calculate project costs, including materials, labour, equipment and subcontractor pricing.

* Manage the end-to-end tendering process, including bid preparation, proposal writing and submission.

* Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal departments to obtain competitive pricing and delivery timescales.

* Support the sourcing and purchasing of components for engineering builds.

* Monitor expenditure, forecast production capacity and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency.

* Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to achieve competitive pricing.

* Plan and manage workload to meet strict deadlines and project requirements.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

* Experienced Mechanical Engineer with a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent skills and experience.

* Minimum of 5 years' purchasing experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

* Ability to interpret engineering drawings and a good understanding of GD&T.

* Knowledge of manufacturing processes, raw material specifications and costing methodologies.

* Strong commercial awareness, negotiation and numerical skills.

* Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and methodical approach.

Hours - Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm.

Salary - Competitive, dependent on experience.
