Estimator
The Pre-Construction Service Standards are designed to provide our internal and external customers with reasonable expectations of process and outcomes. In addition, we want our customers to know what we expect of ourselves as we move toward “Customer Service Excellence”. Pre-Construction will respond to all inquiries as soon as practical and in accordance with the listed standards. Should you have an encounter with Pre-Construction that does not meet with these expectations, please contact The Director of Pre-Construction as soon as possible to discuss.
Request for Quote from Client
- When Estimator receives a request for a quote from a client, they will notify Chief Estimator a new request for quote has been added to Premier’s data system.
Accepting a Quote
- Estimator will be assigned to a job by the Chief Estimator
- Estimator will update the status of the request and the assigned Estimator’s name in Premier’s data system
- Estimator will email client to inform of the assignment request to himself/herself
Completion of Quote
- Estimator sends quote to Chief Estimator and/or Director of Pre-Construction for approval
- Estimates will be completed and returned to clients
- Once an estimate is sent to a client, Estimator shall confirm receipt of quote
- Estimator updates Premier’s data system upon completion including:
- Takeoff sheet showing scope of work with pricing
- Job Breakdown sheet, showing budgets set for job
Job prints
- All addendums for the job
- All documented communication for the job (between client and or client and GC)
- The estimator will follow up with the client. The purpose of this is to create personalization with the client and stand out from all other competitors. Estimator must also include notes/reason in Premier’s data system
- If job is Lost, Estimator will update in Premier’s data system with reason why it was lost and any other pertinent information
Project Award
- Once LOI or Subcontract is received, Estimator updates Premier’s data system & informs Director of Pre-Construction and Chief Estimator
- Estimator informs Director of Pre-Construction and Chief Estimator that job is ready to be sent to Operations
Project Buy-Out
- Estimator shall be involved in the job buy-out to allow the Operations Department to prepare for the awarded project
- When performing a buy-out the Estimating personnel shall come prepared and knowledgeable about the project. To the estimator’s best ability, he/she shall educate the assigned project manager how the job was estimated, to ensure the smoothest transition possible. The documents/Information that must be present at time of buy-out are available in the service standards
Reports
- Estimators shall update info in Premier’s data system, including:
- Weekly follow ups, with notes showing job status
- Hotlist/forecast with notes showing potential start date, estimated value, clients name and respected company’s name.
