Estimator/Project Manager
Summary
Estimates and manages construction projects for a paving company, handling takeoffs, bids, and on-site coordination while ensuring safety and budget compliance.
Purpose of Position: The Estimator/Project Manager plays a key role in the overall success of E&B Paving's Concrete Division. This position is responsible for developing accurate estimates, managing projects from award through closeout, and building strong relationships with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and field teams. The Estimator/Project Manager serves as both a customer service representative and project leader, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. Strong communication, organization, and collaboration are essential to this role's success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a commitment to safety by promoting and supporting E&B Paving's safety culture while ensuring all projects are planned and executed in compliance with company safety policies and applicable regulations.
- Build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective customers.
- Responsible for takeoffs, contacting subcontractors, contacting suppliers, estimating, and project management
- Coordinate closely with field superintendents to ensure successful project execution.
- Review project plans, specifications, contracts, and change orders.
- Assist the Contract Administrator with billing, change orders, and collections
- Maintain clear communication with customers, field personnel, subcontractors, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, Google Workspace, and digital takeoff and estimating software.
Requirements:
- This position requires travel to project sites throughout Indiana and surrounding states, including Tennessee. Overnight stays are required as needed to effectively manage projects
- A minimum of 2 years of experience estimating and managing INDOT, municipal, and commercial projects or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Must have extensive knowledge of INDOT specifications, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project, as well as digitizing takeoff software.
- Knowledge of construction plans, specifications, and estimating principles.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills. Must have excellent communication skills, both written & verbal
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field or equivalent related experience. Professional Engineers with construction experience preferred.
