ETL Tester

We are seeking an experienced ETL Tester with 6+ years of experience in data warehousing, ETL testing, and analytics validation. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in both backend data validation and frontend reporting/dashboard testing, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across enterprise data platforms and BI solutions.

The role requires hands-on experience in validating complex ETL pipelines, performing database testing, analyzing source-to-target mappings, and testing reports and dashboards developed using BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

Key Responsibilities

Backend / ETL Testing

• Validate ETL processes, data transformations, and data migration activities.
• Perform source-to-target data validation and reconciliation.
• Develop and execute test cases, test scenarios, and test scripts for ETL workflows.
• Validate data quality, completeness, accuracy, and integrity across systems.
• Execute SQL queries to verify data loads and business rule implementations.
• Analyze mapping documents, technical specifications, and data models.
• Identify, log, track, and retest defects through closure.
• Work closely with developers, data engineers, and business stakeholders to resolve issues.

Frontend / Reporting Testing

• Validate reports, dashboards, and visualizations for data correctness.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing for BI solutions like PBI, Tableau and MS Fabrics.
• Verify KPIs, metrics, calculations, filters, drill-downs, and dashboard interactions.
• Ensure consistency between backend data sources and frontend reports.
• Validate report performance, usability, and business requirements.

Quality Assurance

• Prepare test plans, test cases, execution reports, and defect reports.
• Participate in requirement reviews and estimation activities.
• Support release validation and production deployment testing.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes and automation initiatives.

Required Skills

• 6+ years of experience in ETL/Data Warehouse Testing.
• Strong SQL skills with hands-on experience in complex queries and data validation.
• Experience in ETL testing using tools such as Informatica, DataStage, SSIS, Talend, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of Data Warehousing concepts, Star/Snowflake Schemas, and Data Marts.
• Experience in validating large datasets and complex business transformations.
• Experience in frontend testing of Power BI, Tableau, MS Fabric or similar BI platforms.
• Knowledge of testing methodologies, SDLC, and Agile practices.
• Experience with defect management tools such as JIRA or Azure DevOps.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
