Event Support Student Assistant Specialist

EVENT SUPPORT STUDENT WORKER, SOF

The Event Support Student Worker will support the Program Administrator working with the School of Fashion and the program faculty as assigned with general event needs such as the planning, setup, and breakdown of events during the year. This may include the SOF fashion shows, open studios, program recognition ceremonies, and material donations. This role includes both regularly scheduled and variable hours, depending on event needs. Evening and occasional weekend availability is required.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the School of Fashion programs and the Program Administrators with event planning, preparation, and execution.

  • Support Staff and Faculty with projects for SOF events, materials donations, fashion shows and other productions.

  • Welcome guests at events, manage check-in, provide information, and help direct foot traffic.

  • Pick up and deliver items for event set up; assist with breakdown of events, including cleanup, room reset, and return of supplies to SOF operations hub.

  • Coordinate with external vendors (catering, rental services, etc) and internal operations teams (security, facilities, events, IT) as related to work tasks.

  • Support faculty and staff with materials donations, get materials unpacked and stored properly.

  • Communicate proactively with SOF staff regarding scheduling, availability, and any potential conflicts for event support shifts.

  • Assist event photographer with setup and capturing the event.

  • Provide DJing services, play music playlist, confirm clean song versions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to perform physical tasks consistent with a Medium exertion level, including regularly lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds; must be able to bend, reach, and lift fabric rolls to shoulder height.

  • Strong communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow through on assigned tasks.

WORK MODE

On-Campus Position - Employees in this position are expected to work on-campus during regularly scheduled work hours due to the nature of the work being that which is not feasible, or not in the best interest of the organization, to be performed remotely.

Off-Campus Position - Employees in this position are expected to work off-campus (fashion show or event site) during regularly scheduled work hours due to the nature of the work being that which is not feasible, or not in the best interest of the organization, to be performed remotely. #LI-DNI

HOURLY RATE: $21.00 per hour
