Position Summary
The Event Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of banquet functions, catered events, weddings, tournaments, and Club social events. This leadership position is responsible for ensuring exceptional event execution by managing banquet operations, supervising event staff, maintaining service standards, and fostering memorable experiences for members and guests.
The Event Manager partners closely with the Catering Manager, Culinary, Stewarding, Food and Beverage, and Club leadership to coordinate logistics, manage operational performance, develop associates, and ensure every event reflects the exceptional hospitality standards of Broken Sound Club.
Essential Responsibilities
Event Planning & Operational Management
- Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of catered events, weddings, tournaments, banquets, and Club social functions.
- Review, interpret, and communicate Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to ensure accurate event execution.
- Develop event timelines, staffing plans, room layouts, and operational schedules.
- Coordinate event logistics with Culinary, Beverage, Stewarding, Housekeeping, Facilities, and other Club departments.
- Monitor event flow and proactively resolve operational challenges throughout each function.
- Conduct post-event evaluations and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
- Ensure all events are executed according to Club standards and member expectations.
Leadership & Team Development
- Recruit, interview, onboard, train, coach, schedule, and evaluate banquet and event associates.
- Lead daily pre-service lineups to communicate event details, service expectations, and operational priorities.
- Develop and maintain departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Promote associate engagement, accountability, and continuous professional development.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching, recognition, and corrective action as appropriate.
- Foster a collaborative culture built on teamwork, professionalism, and service excellence.
Member & Guest Experience
- Maintain a visible leadership presence during Club events and banquet functions.
- Build strong relationships with members, guests, and event hosts.
- Respond promptly and professionally to member concerns, special requests, and service recovery situations.
- Ensure exceptional hospitality and personalized service throughout every event.
- Collaborate with members and internal departments to enhance event experiences and exceed expectations.
Event Quality Assurance
- Conduct pre-event inspections of banquet rooms, event spaces, dining areas, and service stations.
- Ensure room setups, linens, china, glassware, silverware, centerpieces, décor, and audiovisual equipment meet Club standards.
- Monitor food quality, beverage presentation, cleanliness, and service execution throughout events.
- Verify banquet equipment is maintained, organized, and event-ready.
- Ensure all event spaces are properly restored following each function.
Financial & Operational Performance
- Assist the Catering Manager in managing labor costs, staffing efficiency, and departmental productivity.
- Monitor banquet revenues, event expenses, and operational performance.
- Support purchasing, inventory management, and cost-control initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency while enhancing member satisfaction.
- Assist in achieving departmental financial goals and service objectives.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Club policies, OSHA regulations, sanitation standards, food safety guidelines, and responsible alcohol service requirements.
- Promote safe work practices and proper use of banquet equipment.
- Monitor associate appearance, grooming standards, and uniform compliance.
- Report accidents, incidents, maintenance concerns, and operational deficiencies promptly.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized event environment.
