We're seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for a full-time, self-contained classroom in Illinois. This opportunity focuses primarily on students with autism, including learners who require more intensive support. The ideal candidate will create a structured, encouraging classroom where students can develop skills, work toward personalized goals, and make meaningful progress.
What You’ll Do
Lead Classroom Instruction: Manage a self-contained classroom of approximately 10 students with diverse learning and support needs.
Individualize Learning: Develop and deliver instruction aligned with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), abilities, and educational goals.
Support Students With Autism: Adapt teaching approaches to meet a range of needs, including those requiring significant assistance.
Promote Positive Behavior: Establish predictable routines and use effective classroom management and positive behavioral strategies.
Monitor Student Growth: Evaluate progress toward academic and developmental objectives and maintain accurate student records.
Contribute to IEP Planning: Participate in meetings, assist with goal development, and collaborate with the school team to support student success.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related field.
- Strong communication, classroom management, and collaboration skills.
- Experience working with students with autism and complex support needs preferred.
- Ability to deliver individualized instruction and maintain a safe, organized, and supportive classroom.
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with the appropriate Special Education endorsement.
