The Boston Architectural College (BAC) offers excellence in design education emerging from practice and accessible to diverse communities. It’s an exciting time to join the BAC as we reimagine day-to-day operations that can scale with our strategic plan.

The Boston Architectural College (BAC) was established in 1889 and has become a non-profit, tuition-based, accredited private school of spatial design offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs in architecture, interior architecture, landscape architecture, and design studies. Students work, either in a professional position or in community service settings, at the same time they are engaged in course work. Additionally, low-residency graduate degrees in historic preservation, sustainable design, design for human health, and real estate development as well as certificate programs are all available online.

In this position you will support and maximize the work of Academic Affairs and the Deans of the Schools (School of Architecture; School of Design Studies; School of Landscape Architecture; and School of Interior Architecture). We are looking for a skilled Executive Assistant with experience in higher education, and a self-starter who can contribute to productivity at all levels, from day-to-day operations to more complex organizational projects.

What You Will Do

  • Act as Executive Assistant to the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs

  • Provide supplemental administrative support to Academic Deans

  • Ensure that meetings run on time with prep material delivered in advance

  • Enable remote decision-making and growth of programs

  • Keep projects on track

  • Triage and draft replies to emails

  • Manage information flow

  • Assist with Budget Management and reconciliation

  • Attend meetings and follow up on action items

  • Respond to subtle cues and react with situational appropriateness

  • Troubleshoot with AA colleagues and academic leadership

Recurring Projects on Which You Will Be Working

  • Syllabi and course review

  • Zoom hosting and licensing

  • Student evaluations (5 X year)

  • Room scheduling and planning of academic spaces

  • Substantial support for annual events for which Academic Affairs is responsible, including: Graduation Exhibition, Academic Honors and Awards, and the Intensives

  • Administrative support for special projects, including grants

  • Support for Onsite Thesis and Portfolio Review

  • Administrative coordination and face-to-face support for the Office of Academic Affairs

Salary Range: $51,000 - $58,000 depending on experience
