The Electrical Designer performs work under the guidance of electrical engineers and senior electrical designers to document electrical designs for projects based on supplied markup drawings, reference documents, and general product knowledge. This work is completed utilizing AutoCAD Electric and other support software.


Salary: $90K-$125K depending on experience

CAD/3D Drafting/Support Software

  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, technical drawings, and schematics competently.
  • Can create electrical design drawings using AutoCad Electric and can create basic mechanical layout drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Able to work from marked up prints and reference documents or through gained product knowledge to update and/or create new electrical power and control drawing documents.
  • Can update instrumentation and electrical and control portions of drawings from detailed instructions under some guidance of a senior designer or engineer.
  • Knowledgeable of MS Office and similar business related software and perform basic functions.
  • Manages BOM’s, parts, and other product related items for assigned projects, working closely with procurement to make sure that deadlines for product delivery are met while maintaining quality and function.


Problem Solving/Troubleshooting

  • Able to work with fellow drafters, designers, and engineers to assist with resolving a design challenge.
  • Can assist with electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Has gained fundamental knowledge of the product and can solve rudimentary challenges in product electrical design layout and drafting of product.

Teamwork/Collaboration

  • Interfaces with engineering staff, manufacturing staff, and operations staff in a productive manner to gain needed information to properly perform electrical design/CAD drafting work
  • Participates in engineering design meetings to learn and grow their understanding of design methods and processes.
  • Works closely with fellow designers, engineers, and drafters to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Able to assist/guide entry-level electrical designers and CAD drafters in the performance of their work.

Other Essential Duties

  • Punctual individual that maintains regular and consistent job attendance.
  • Has fundamental knowledge of the National Electric Code, IEEE standards, MSHA, and other applicable standards, and can find and apply this to required work with some assistance from an electrical engineer.
