Position Overview

Position: Experienced Inside Sales
Location: West Jordan UT, Centennial CO, Irvine CA (on-site based on location)

If you know industrial instrumentation and automation and you're tired of being a quote-cranking order-taker, read on. We're looking for an experienced inside sales rep who wants to actually solve problems with customers — sizing the right solution, troubleshooting applications, and being the person the outside team and the customer both trust to get it right.

Rust Automation & Controls is a family-owned instrumentation and automation company founded in 1976 in West Jordan, Utah. For 50 years we've helped customers across the Western U.S. in oil & gas, water/wastewater, power generation, manufacturing, food & beverage, and life sciences keep their critical operations running. We're growing, and we're adding to the team.

Role & Responsibilities

• Be the technical go-to for customers — product selection, application support, and recommending the right measurement and control solution for the job
• Build quotes that are accurate and technically sound, and manage complex orders start to finish
• Partner closely with outside sales to win and grow accounts
• Keep customers, vendors, and internal teams coordinated so orders move cleanly
• Opportunities to visit customer sites to build relationships, train, and drive new business
• Own a few of your own sales initiatives and run with them

Qualifications & Profile

• 5+ years in technical/inside sales or applications support, ideally with industrial instrumentation, automation, or control products
• Comfort reading and interpreting technical documents and bid specs
• A working understanding of control loops and process instrumentation (if you know what a PID loop is and why it matters, you'll fit right in)
• Strong problem-solving instincts and the ability to explain complex technical concepts simply
• The drive to work independently and the generosity to share what you know with teammates
