POSITION OVERVIEW
The Extrusion Department Manager is a senior-level position responsible for all operations in the Extrusion Department, overseeing safety, production performance, product quality, and frontline leadership across multiple shifts within a manufacturing environment. The Extrusion Manager is a strong critical thinker, experienced manufacturing expert, and a hands-on team player. To succeed in this role, you will bring a proven record of leading manufacturing operations that consistently achieve or exceed targets for throughput, cost efficiency, quality, and operational excellence.
The selected candidate will lead a high-performing 24/7 extrusion operation. The position is a member of the senior leadership team at General Films and reports directly to the President/CEO.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Demonstrate strong leadership of a 24/7 blown film extrusion operation, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production that consistently meets customer, operational, and financial objectives.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor supervisors and manufacturing associates, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Drive productivity, quality, scrap reduction, cost-control, and process improvement initiatives to enhance performance, profitability, and competitiveness.
  • Ensure production schedules and company targets are achieved while maintaining high standards for product quality, equipment reliability, and operator performance.
  • Champion workplace safety and regulatory compliance, promoting a zero-incident culture and ensuring adherence to OSHA and company standards.
  • Partner closely with senior leadership, Human Resources, and cross-functional teams to align manufacturing strategies, employee development, and business goals.
  • Establish clear departmental objectives, communicate priorities and performance metrics, and provide regular updates on progress, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Serve as a key member of the leadership team, contributing to strategic planning, operational growth, and the continuous advancement of manufacturing capabilities.
  • Provide hands-on leadership and timely decision-making in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, including availability to support critical operational issues as needed.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in related field and 10 years of plant/general management experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Substantial blown film expertise and experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
  • An extensive background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs, lean manufacturing practices, and quality systems is required.
  • Strong experience leading cross-functional teams, continuous improvement, and culture of excellence.
