F5 Application Delivery & Security Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for a senior F5 Application Delivery & Security Engineer to take ownership of enterprise-grade F5 infrastructure supporting critical applications and services.

The role will be responsible for engineering, administration, troubleshooting, security, lifecycle management, and delivery of F5 solutions across a large production environment. The successful candidate will act as a technical authority for F5 technologies and work closely with network, security, application, architecture, and project teams.


What You Will Be Responsible For

Platform Ownership

You will take end-to-end ownership of the F5 environment, ensuring that the platform remains secure, resilient, scalable, and fit for business-critical workloads.

This will include:

  • Engineering and administration of F5 BIG-IP environments.

  • Configuration and support of application delivery and traffic management services.

  • Management of F5 upgrades, patches, migrations, refreshes, and lifecycle activities.

  • Performance monitoring, capacity planning, and platform tuning.

  • Implementation and maintenance of HA, redundancy, and disaster recovery solutions.

  • Ensuring platform availability and operational stability.

Engineering & Production Support

The position requires strong troubleshooting capability and the ability to operate at an advanced engineering level.

You will:

  • Handle complex L3 F5 incidents and technical escalations.

  • Investigate application delivery, load-balancing, DNS, SSL, and traffic-related issues.

  • Perform root cause investigations and implement permanent fixes.

  • Support major incidents and critical production restoration activities.

  • Assist with application onboarding and traffic migration.

  • Maintain troubleshooting procedures and operational knowledge articles.

Solution Engineering

You will also be involved in the technical lifecycle of new solutions and services.

Key activities include:

  • Participate in architecture and solution design discussions.

  • Review proposed network, application, and security architectures.

  • Assess solutions against enterprise technical and security standards.

  • Provide F5 design recommendations and engineering best practices.

  • Contribute to technical risk assessments and implementation planning.

  • Work with project and engineering teams to ensure successful solution delivery.

Project & Change Delivery

The engineer will be expected to independently execute F5-related implementation and transformation activities.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering F5 deployments and infrastructure changes.

  • Performing migrations, upgrades, configuration changes, and technology refreshes.

  • Preparing implementation and rollback plans.

  • Defining testing and validation approaches.

  • Supporting production releases and application cutovers.

  • Participating in scheduled maintenance and change windows.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on capability across the following F5 technologies and concepts:

The role will also contribute to maintaining the security posture of the application delivery environment.

  • Implementing security controls in line with organizational standards.

  • Administration and support of F5 Advanced WAF / ASM.

  • SSL/TLS implementation and secure traffic handling.

  • Supporting traffic inspection and application protection.

  • Addressing security vulnerabilities and remediation requirements.

  • Supporting audits, compliance assessments, and security reviews.


Automation, Cloud & Modern Infrastructure

Exposure to modern infrastructure and automation practices will be advantageous.

Experience with any of the following would be beneficial:

  • Azure networking

  • AWS networking

  • Infrastructure as Code

  • Infrastructure automation and scripting

  • DevOps methodologies

  • CI/CD integration

  • Zero Trust Architecture

  • Secure Access technologies

Additional exposure to Check Point, Fortinet, Palo Alto, or Cisco security technologies would also be valued.

The successful candidate should be comfortable working in:

  • Telecommunications / Telco environments.

  • Multi-team engineering and project environments.

  • Customer-facing technical engagements.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are important, as the role will involve working with customers, architects, application teams, security teams, network engineers, and project stakeholders.


Experience Profile

We are looking for a senior engineer with:

8+ years of experience across Network Security and Application Delivery, including at least 5 years of hands-on F5 engineering and implementation experience.

The candidate should demonstrate practical experience in:

  • F5 deployment and engineering.

  • Platform migration and transformation.

  • Enterprise application onboarding.

  • Production troubleshooting and L3 support.

  • High-availability environments.

  • F5 lifecycle and technology refresh projects.

  • Customer and stakeholder engagement.

  • Business-critical application delivery platforms.

Relevant professional certifications may include:

  • F5 Certified Administrator (F5-CA)

  • F5 Certified Technical Specialist (F5-CTS)

  • F5 Certified Solution Expert (F5-CSE)
