Fabric Data Engineer (Eindhoven)
Summary
Build and deploy Microsoft Fabric lakehouses and pipelines for enterprise clients, enforcing engineering rigor, CI/CD, and scalable architectures while mentoring teams on best practices.
Does This Sound Like You?
You're an experienced data engineer who gets excited about landing the rapidly evolving Fabric stack at data-driven enterprises the right way. You don't just build pipelines; you think about how to do it right. You care about defining best practices, bringing software engineering discipline to the data platform world, and making things work at scale. You're pragmatic, opinionated where it matters, and always looking to raise the bar.
The Xebia Data Division
Xebia Data is one of the divisions of Xebia Netherlands, renowned for its expertise in building strong Data and AI practices that deliver value to our clients. In the past, our team has predicted daily bread demand for millions of loaves, built advanced energy-saving algorithms at a national scale, and established data innovation labs at large multinational companies.
You’ll work with the sharpest data professionals in Europe, people who are not only technically brilliant but also generous with their knowledge. We enjoy the benefits of being part of a large organization while maintaining the energetic atmosphere of a scale‑up.
What You’ll Be Doing To Make Organizations Data-Driven
You’ll help clients adopt Fabric the right way: with proper engineering practices, reproducible deployments, testable code, and architectures that don’t fall apart at scale.
- Design lakehouses and data pipelines in Fabric.
- Set up CI/CD for Fabric.
- Manage environments and promotion.
- Structure a workspace for a team of ten.
- Define patterns others follow.
- Keep an eye on the broader ecosystem: Azure, AWS, GCP, Spark, Terraform, dbt, and Airflow.
- Explain design choices, align stakeholders, and guide client teams.
- Work on projects of varying lengths, from three weeks to one year, in mixed teams of Xebian and client engineers.
What are we looking for
The Data Engineer role is a senior position integral to our teams, so we ask for at least 3 years of relevant Data Engineering work, with at least 1.5 years of that working with (or helping to transfer to) Fabric.
We also value unique achievements, such as contributing to open-source projects or founding a startup.
This is your dream job if….
- Have hands‑on experience with Microsoft Fabric and want to push it further by defining best practices.
- Care about software engineering fundamentals like version control, testing, CI/CD, and code review.
- Think about scale and tackle challenges that come with growing data volumes, team sizes, and complexity.
- Be curious beyond Fabric; have experience or interest in other clouds and tools like Spark, Terraform, dbt, or Airflow.
- Like working for different clients and learning in new environments, meeting new people regularly in various locations.
