Role Overview

The Fabrication Branch Manager directs the profitable operation of a multimillion-dollar fabrication business. They direct all welders and fabricators who work on the necessary component parts of pipe support and other miscellaneous steel fabrication that supports the organization’s production goals and objectives while meeting and/or exceeding customer expectations. They lead daily activities that ensure employee safety, production accuracy, and optimal performance, and are responsible for the development and retention of their teams.


Manager Responsibilities

  • Leading and motivating the team to achieve performance goals.
  • Setting clear objectives and expectations for team members.
  • Providing coaching, support, and feedback to improve team performance.
  • Ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Acting as a liaison between upper management and staff.
  • Analyzing performance metrics and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Implementing strategic initiatives to achieve organizational goals.
  • Addressing personnel issues and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Managing hiring and termination processes.
  • Overseeing timecard management.
  • Conducting performance management activities.


Responsibilities

  • Attracts, develops and retains a group of highly effective welders and fabricators and is responsible for creating positive team morale and optimal retention.
  • Directs entire fabrication production workflow by maintaining production schedule with resource loading.
  • Oversees interpretation of drawings/specifications.
  • Oversees and provides guidance on pricing and maximizing margin.
  • Demonstrates understanding of core welding technologies, plasma cutting, and various fabrication machinery.
  • Interfaces with various levels in the organization and shares information as required.
  • Enforces established safety guidelines; promotes a safe workplace.
  • Maintains accurate records and metrics.
  • Ensures inventory accuracy through process development, adherence, and management.
  • Identifies, documents, and implements opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all operating systems pertaining to the work area.
  • Controls complete P&L for branch to ensure profitability.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned or required.
