Fabrication Shop Foreman

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Supervision:

  • Supervise fabrication personnel each day to support productivity, quality, and compliance with safety requirements.
  • Assign and track work orders, monitor progress, and provide updates to the Production Manager, Project Managers, and Field Superintendents.
  • Train and mentor welders, pipefitters, and shop personnel to strengthen skills and support continuous improvement.
  • Lead in both shop and field settings, providing hands-on support as needed.

Technical Expertise & Execution:

  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications to complete assigned work.
  • Oversee fabrication, welding, and assembly to ensure precision and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Resolve technical issues and apply best practices to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Knowledge of CNC and BIM programming is preferred.

Coordination & Communication:

  • Work with the Production Manager to plan and prioritize shop workflow in alignment with project schedules.
  • Coordinate with project teams to anticipate material needs, production constraints, and delivery timelines.
  • Maintain clear communication between the shop and project teams to support efficient execution.

Quality Control & Compliance:

  • Ensure all work complies with industry standards, company procedures, and project specifications.
  • Partner with quality control personnel to inspect work, maintain documentation, and address deficiencies.
  • Keep accurate records of completed work, materials used, and compliance reports.

Safety & Shop Management:

  • Enforce OSHA and company safety policies, including safety meetings and audits as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and properly equipped shop.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and used according to safety guidelines.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required:

  • At least 5 years of experience in mechanical fabrication, welding, or pipefitting.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory experience in a fabrication shop.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and project drawings.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, including ASME and API.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills for coordinating with the Production Manager, Field Superintendents, and Project Managers.
  • Willingness to work in the field as needed, including travel to job sites.

Preferred:

  • Welding certifications, such as AWS or ASME, or NDE certification preferred.
  • Experience with pressure vessel or modular fabrication.
  • Proficiency in multiple welding processes, including SMAW, GTAW, and MIG/FCAW.
  • Experience leading teams in shop and field environments.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Work occurs in shop and field environments with exposure to welding fumes, noise, heavy equipment, and outdoor conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in confined or elevated spaces when required.
  • Travel to job sites as needed.
  • Use required personal protective equipment according to company policy.
