Compensation range: $2,500 AUD / Monthly

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time. Benefit of same time zone as Philippines.

Role Overview: This is a senior technical position for an experienced facade professional. The engineer is the offshore technical authority across the project portfolio, leading window and facade system design and taking responsibility for compliance against Australian Standards. Working alongside the Operations Manager and the Australia-based Project Engineer, the role carries design intent through to buildable, fabrication-ready systems and resolves the technical detail that keeps each project scope fully covered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead window and facade system design across all Vertex projects, from concept through to shop drawings and fabrication-ready documentation.
- Produce and mark up detailed technical drawings in AutoCAD to a professional standard.
- Take ownership of design compliance against Australian Standards, including AS 2047, AS 1288, AS 4284 and AS/NZS 1170.
- Interrogate architectural and structural documentation and translate design intent into compliant, manufacturable systems.
- Coordinate and review supplier fabrication documentation, resolving technical queries directly with Chinese manufacturers.
- Apply practical judgement on fabrication and onsite installation requirements to ensure every design is buildable and installable in the field.
- Travel to China to visit suppliers, review samples and inspect fabrication when required.
- Lead technical discussions with clients and the internal project team via Teams, representing Vertex with authority and clarity.

- Substantial, demonstrable experience in window and facade system design within commercial construction.
- Proven ability to lead a technical scope independently and be accountable for design outcomes.
- Advanced AutoCAD proficiency – essential.
- Working knowledge of Australian Standards relevant to windows and facades, including AS 2047, AS 1288, AS 4284 and AS/NZS 1170.
- Practical understanding of window system fabrication and onsite installation requirements gained from real project delivery.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with the confidence and technical depth to run discussions with clients and project teams over video calls.
- Willingness to travel to China to visit suppliers as required..
- Direct experience coordinating Chinese aluminium and glazing manufacturers.
- Experience with curtain wall, structural glazing and aluminium systems beyond windows.
- Familiarity with M365 and SharePoint for project collaboration.
- Relevant engineering qualification in a related discipline.

- This role is offered under an Independent Contractor agreement, meaning you’ll be responsible for managing your own taxes, benefits, work equipment, and internet connection.
