FACILITIES COORDINATOR - Joy House Division for Women & Children
Joy House – Milwaukee Rescue Mission Division for Women & Children. The women and children who come to us for emergency or long-term support rely on the safety, love and warmth of Joy House and its many services. We nourish and nurture them through training, education and spiritual guidance so they can make better lives for themselves and for their kids.

Joy House is seeking a mature Christian woman to fill a part-time Facilities Coordinator position. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment for Joy House guests and staff. This includes maintaining the buildings and grounds of Joy House and overseeing the upkeep of equipment and supplies.

WORK SCHEDULE: Part-Time, 1st Shift, Monday 5:30am-10:30am and Tuesday-Friday 7:00am-Noon

LOCATION: Central Campus – 830 N 19th Street, Milwaukee, WI. 53233
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the implementation and supervision of general housekeeping tasks in Joy House – preparing snacks and lunches, laundry, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, mopping, emptying garbage, transporting guest belongings, room checks, toiletry distribution, etc.
  • Make sure all communication devices are working properly
  • Check all vents in equipment and rooms to make sure they are clean and functioning properly
  • Maintain all utility closets and storage rooms including guest storage rooms
  • Complete maintenance requests for items or areas that are in need of repair
  • Stock all areas of Joy House (pantries, program areas, utility closets, laundry room, med closet, etc.)
  • Assist with training new staff in house management and safety procedures.
  • Help to provide assistance and oversight to guest mothers and their children during meal time transport, daily activities, and regularly scheduled meetings to ensure that meetings are orderly
  • Ensure that daily routine is smooth and orderly
  • Assist the Office Manager with filing and clerical tasks as needed
  • Help guests understand and follow all house rules
  • Ensure area is safe and secure
  • Work closely with the Director concerning building updates and remodels
  • Perform any other necessary tasks as directed by the Office Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Mature Christian woman with a servant’s heart who is able to relate well with others in a diverse population, communicating effectively and professionally with staff, contractors, guests, volunteers and peers
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Two or more years custodial or housekeeping experience required
  • Project coordination experience preferred
  • Must be able to work independently, effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines
  • Detail orientated with excellent organization, coordination, decision-making and follow-through skills
  • Ability and willingness to follow instructions, to be flexible and a team player
  • Reliability, dependability, and punctuality are expected
  • Have a genuine concern for the salvation and spiritual welfare of Milwaukee Rescue Mission guests
  • Must be able to handle physical workload – ability to stand for long periods of time, walking, stair climbing, kneeling, squatting, crouching, reaching, handling and gripping without difficulty, repetitive movement of both hands and arms, as well as frequent lifting or moving items with a maximum weight of 55lbs a short distance (ex: floor to shelf or cart), and pushing or pulling heavier items with the use of a cart or dolly.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to dust, cleaning chemicals, and pests
  • A workplace demeanor consistent with a Christian church environment: civil, respectful, polite, and responsive
  • Be in agreement with and subscribe to the MRM Statement of Faith and the MRM Statement of Biblical Convictions
  • Be a committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is evident in personal testimony and Christian conduct
  • Pass a pre-employment background check and drug test
PART-TIME BENEFIT PACKAGE:
  • Hiring range: $18.60-$19.26 based on experience/qualifications
