Facilities Maintenance Assistant

Company Overview

Baker Engineering designs and builds mobile offshore units and critical equipment for the offshore marine industry. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of SGX Mainboard-listed Baker Technology Limited, a leading manufacturer and service provider for the oil & gas sector.

Job Summary

You will perform maintenance and repair tasks across company facilities, support yard operations and groundskeeping, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

Facilities Maintenance & Repairs:

  • Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance in workshops and yard areas to ensure operational readiness
  • Perform basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs to maintain facility functionality
  • Conduct routine inspections of company facilities and report defects to prevent disruptions
  • Assist in preventive maintenance activities to reduce equipment downtime
  • Coordinate with external contractors to support maintenance and repair projects

Yard & Operational Support:

  • Support ad-hoc site works assigned by Facilities or Operations teams to meet operational needs
  • Assist in minor modification works or setup activities to facilitate smooth operations
  • Support housekeeping and improvement initiatives across departments to maintain a safe environment
  • Assist during company events, audits, or inspections to ensure compliance and readiness
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors to support team objectives

Groundskeeping & Landscaping:

  • Perform grass cutting, weed removal, and trimming of green buffer areas to maintain tidy grounds
  • Maintain cleanliness and neatness of yard surroundings and landscaped zones for safety and aesthetics
  • Prune shrubs and small trees to promote healthy growth and prevent hazards
  • Ensure outdoor areas are safe and free from overgrowth hazards to comply with safety standards
  • Follow all relevant government regulations and company QSHE policies, practices, and procedures consistently

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Minimum secondary education or relevant technical certification
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, or building maintenance
  • At least 1–2 years of maintenance experience preferred
  • Able to use basic hand and power tools
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks
  • Responsible, hands-on, and able to work independently
  • A team player with the ability to work independently as well as in a team
