Facilities Maintenance Engineer
Summary
Maintains and repairs automated packaging and distribution machinery in a book-publishing facility, performing planned maintenance and reactive fixes during early and back shifts with on-call availability.
To work in conjunction with the Site Services Technical Manager and wider M&E team to ensure the availability of machinery and equipment throughout the site, play a pivotal role in monitoring, maintenance, improvement and control of our production and plant operations. Carrying out regular compliance PPM tasks and general reactive maintenance works. Full training on brand-new state of the art high-speed packaging equipment will be provided in a purpose built and new facility.
This role is for a rolling shift engineer position covering early and backshifts depending on operational demands. Early (6am to 2pm) - Back (2pm to 10pm) Monday to Friday. The role is included in an on-call rota with associated on call and overtime payments to provide out of hours site coverage.
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance to maintain distribution centre machinery – sorters, conveyor systems, packing machines, balers, etc.
- Carry out PPMs on machinery within timescales using the CMMs / CAFM system to record maintenance tasks and requirements
- Support the Site Services team to deliver maintenance and work packages outside of core skill set
- Maintain high standards of work and engineering good practice
- Adhere to onsite Health and Safety processes, Safe Systems of Work and ensure thorough handovers, asset reporting and feedback
- Review processes and make recommendations for continued improvement to distribution centre machinery and site plant and equipment
- Electrical system and safe isolation compliance

- 18th Edition wiring regulations NVQ Level 3 in engineering or related field Electrical/mechanical engineer with a strong technical knowledge in relevant fields BTEC/HNC/HND/C&G or degree in engineering or related field (desirable)
- Prior experience in working in a similar role
