Facilities & Maintenance Manager

We are partnering with an established organisation in the marine and heavy engineering sector to appoint an experienced Facilities & Maintenance Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of operational facilities, infrastructure, plant equipment, and supporting utilities to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage planned preventive maintenance (PPM) programmes for facilities, plant equipment, machinery, lifting equipment, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Lead and supervise the facilities and maintenance team to ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with operational priorities.
  • Monitor the performance and reliability of plant equipment, recommending improvements to maximise equipment availability and minimise downtime.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance with ISO standards, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of production facilities, workshops, office buildings, warehouses, utility systems, and other operational infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support to operational teams by ensuring facility services and essential equipment remain operational.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage facility improvement, refurbishment, and infrastructure development projects, ensuring completion within budget and schedule.
  • Prepare and manage annual maintenance and capital expenditure budgets for facilities, equipment, and tools.
  • Evaluate, appoint, and supervise contractors and service providers, ensuring all work complies with company standards and safety requirements.
  • Ensure environmental compliance by overseeing the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with local regulations.
  • Manage company assets by providing recommendations on equipment procurement, replacement, refurbishment, and disposal.
  • Monitor and coordinate the utilisation of leased or hired equipment to support operational requirements.
  • Prepare regular maintenance performance reports, asset condition reports, and improvement recommendations for management.
  • Investigate facility-related issues and coordinate timely corrective actions to ensure a safe and productive working environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives relating to maintenance efficiency, facility reliability, sustainability, and workplace safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience managing facilities, plant maintenance, or engineering operations within the shipbuilding, marine, offshore, manufacturing, or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance systems, facility management, and asset lifecycle management.
  • Experience managing maintenance teams, contractors, and external service providers.
  • Familiarity with ISO management systems and maintenance best practices.
  • Experience in budgeting, maintenance planning, and project coordination.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Microsoft Project, CMMS, or ERP maintenance systems would be advantageous.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good communication skills in English; Bahasa Indonesia proficiency would be an advantage.
  • Willing and able to work full-time in Batam, Indonesia.
