Facilities Technician
Summary
Maintains and repairs office facilities, equipment, and systems, performing inspections, minor repairs, and coordinating external vendors for specialized services.
Responsible for maintaining the office building, facilities, and equipment in a safe and operational condition by performing routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs. The role also coordinates with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance and repair services.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections of building facilities and equipment.
- Perform minor repairs related to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, furniture, and office fixtures.
- Diagnose facility issues and determine whether repairs can be completed internally or require external vendors.
- Coordinate and supervise external contractors for specialized maintenance, repairs, and statutory inspections.
- Monitor contractor performance and verify work quality and completion.
- Respond promptly to facility breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests.
- Maintain building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, lighting, and fire protection equipment.
- Maintain maintenance records, work orders, and service documentation.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Support office renovations, furniture installation, office moves, and workspace modifications.
Education
- Technical diploma or vocational qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Maintenance, Facilities Management, or a related field.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in facilities or building maintenance.
- Experience in a corporate office, commercial building, or industrial environment is preferred.
Skills
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and basic carpentry.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor building repairs independently.
- Ability to assess maintenance issues and determine when specialist contractors are required.
- Experience coordinating external vendors and service providers.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and work order systems.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems).
Other Requirements
- Basic understanding of workplace health and safety regulations.
- Willingness to respond to urgent maintenance issues outside normal working hours, when required.
- Fluent in Dutch and English.
