Facility Engineer
Summary
Designs and oversees industrial facility systems like compressed air, cooling water, and vacuum, using AutoCAD and Revit, then supervises on-site installation, safety, and commissioning in Singapore.
Key Responsibilities
1.Engineering Design & Planning
System Design: Develop detailed designs for mechanical utility systems, including Compressed Dry Air (CDA), Process Cooling Water (PCW), and Vacuum systems.
Technical Drawing: Create and review P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), 2Dlayouts, and 3D models using AutoCAD and Revit.
Calculation& Sizing: Perform engineering calculations for pipe sizing, pressure drop, pump head, and equipment capacity to ensure system efficiency.
BIM Coordination: Utilize Revit for 3D spatial coordination to identify and resolve clashes with other disciplines (e.g., electrical, structural) before construction.
2.On-site Construction & Supervision
Site Supervision: Oversee on-site installation of mechanical piping, equipment positioning, and support structures to ensure alignment with design specifications.
Contractor Management: Manage external contractors, lead site coordination meetings, and ensure work is completed according to the project schedule.
Safety& Quality Control: Enforce site safety protocols (EHS) and conduct quality inspections of welding, piping pressure tests, and insulation work.
Progress Tracking: Monitor construction milestones and provide regular reports on project status, risks, and budget updates.
3.Commissioning & Handover
Testing & Commissioning (T&C): Lead the startup and functional testing of facility systems to verify performance against design intent.
As-built Documentation: Review and finalize "As-built" drawings and operation manuals for handover to the operations team.
4.Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in facility design or construction management.
- Hands-on experience with industrial utility systems: CDA, PCW, and Vacuum.
Software Proficiency:
- Expert in AutoCAD (2D) and proficient in Revit (3D/BIM) for facility modeling.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints and P&IDs.
Technical Skills:
- Solid understanding of piping materials, valves, and industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of construction codes, piping standards (e.g., ASME/ANSI), and site safety regulations.
Soft Skills:
- Strong project management skills and the ability to coordinate between design office and construction site.
- problem-solving skills to handle unexpected on-site technical issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in semiconductor fab construction or large-scale industrial plant projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
