The Opportunity
We are looking for a Facility Manager to join APM Terminals Liberia. In this role, you will be accountable for the safe and efficient execution of facility repairs, planned maintenance activities, and projects across the terminal.
You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, integrity, and performance of terminal facilities while driving continuous improvement, managing budgets, leading teams, and ensuring compliance with safety and maintenance standards. This role reports to the Local Head of Asset Management
Key Responsibilities
Safety
- Ensure all facility repairs, maintenance activities, and projects are executed safely and in compliance with terminal standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture by leading through example and ensuring safe work practices.
- Ensure equipment and facilities are maintained in accordance with local regulations and APM Terminals standards.
- Verify that external contractors and vendors operate safely and maintain appropriate maintenance records.
Facility Maintenance & Operations
- Oversee maintenance and repair activities across terminal buildings and infrastructure.
- Manage electricity, plumbing, air conditioning, carpentry, masonry, painting, and related facility services.
- Ensure landscaping, grounds, parking areas, and terminal surroundings are maintained to a high standard.
- Develop concepts and layouts for facility modifications and improvement projects.
- Act as Project Leader for facility maintenance and construction activities.
Project & Contractor Management
- Manage subcontractors and service providers performing repair, maintenance, and construction activities.
- Review and approve project designs, specifications, estimates, and scope of work.
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure delivery against quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Ensure terminal drawings and facility documentation remain accurate and up to date.
Asset Integrity & Maintenance Strategy
- Develop and maintain maintenance strategies for buildings and facility assets.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance facility reliability and performance.
- Ensure building integrity through preventive, predictive, and inspection-based maintenance programs.
- Monitor facility KPIs and ensure accurate reporting.
Resource & Cost Management
- Manage facility budgets, including preventive and corrective maintenance expenditures.
- Monitor costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce expenditure.
- Manage facility spare parts inventory in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate planning and scheduling activities to maximize resource utilization.
People Leadership
- Lead and develop the facility team, including direct reports.
- Build capability through coaching, training, and development initiatives.
- Support succession planning and career growth within the team.
- Foster collaboration with internal stakeholders across the terminal.
We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in facility management, maintenance and repair, or a related operational environment.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working within service-oriented and operationally complex environments.
- Knowledge of facility maintenance strategies, planning processes, and performance metrics.
- Strong planning, scheduling, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Understanding of maintenance management systems and related technologies.
- Structured, self-motivated, and results-oriented approach to work.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
