Facility Operations Specialist
You will serve as a Facility Operations Specialist . This is a term position (more than 1 year) with an initial appointment expecting to last at least 13 months but may be extended up to a total of four years, or more based on any changes to regulations governing the number of years term appointments may last, without further competition at management's discretion. GS-11 Salary: $74,678 (step 1) - $97,087(step 10) First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.
Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Evaluates the development, design, and construction of laboratories and support systems used in providing research and laboratory analysis. Assists the Science Center Management in developing, prioritizing, and completing assessments of Deferred Maintenance and Capital Improvement needs. This includes preparing implementation plans which contain detailed cost estimates and work specifications for modification of existing structures; control systems; heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems; and other facility systems. Advises management on policies, standard operating procedures, and schedules for buildings and grounds activities, including security and an emergency callback program to ensure the integrity of complex analytical equipment and research projects in the case of after-hour emergency alarms. Serves as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) with responsibility for center construction or rehabilitation projects (buildings) and contract staff assigned to facilities.

Under applicable law, the employment of an individual serving a probationary or trial period automatically terminates when that period ends unless the agency affirmatively certifies, in writing, that the individual's employment should continue and that their appointment should be finalized. In the absence of agency action to affirmatively certify continued employment beyond the probationary or trial period, such appointments are terminated.
