Facility Operations Specialist

This position supports the management, maintenance, repair and construction of park facilities, including buildings, utilities, trails, roads and other physical assets.

Project Management: Develops, schedules, coordinates, and manages projects and resources, including monitoring and inspecting costs, work, and contractor performance. Design Development and Construction Documents: Participates in the design process for new facilities, or modifications to existing facilities, to meet the project goals as determined during schematic design. Prepares and/or reviews cost estimates and other technical documentation required to contract and award projects. Contract Management: Provide assistance to the Contracting Officer (CO) by assisting in the development of a design scope of services, including information on project scoping and pre-design. Serves as the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) to ensure work meets NPS requirements for all phases of the contract. Technical Resource: Serves as a source of expertise in constructing, maintaining, and operating infrastructure for parks. Within their area of expertise, answers questions for parks and colleagues. Questions may turn into projects, and keeps the supervisor informed when potential projects arise. Coordinates with other subject matter experts (SMEs) when necessary, based on project conditions and requirements. Program Support: Perform other duties required to support the operation of the Division of Facility Management. Examples include participation on committees and development of work tools to be used by the group, and providing training for others in key project management topics, etc. Career Seasonal: Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately January through mid-November & December (Non-pay period 11/22/26-12/5/26), and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year. U.S. Citizenship required. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males. Uniform: You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. Minimum Age Requirement: Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program. *Additional Requirements located under qualifications*
