Facility Quality Assurance Technician (m/w/d)

Summary

Perform quality control tests on raw materials and finished products in a refractory manufacturing lab, document results, and ensure EHS compliance in a production environment.

Calderys has a fantastic opportunity to join our Laboratory as a Monolithic Production Control Technician/ Facility Quality Assurance Technician.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with EHS, occupational health & safety, and environmental procedures.

  • Follow Take-5, 5S, and PPE requirements.

  • Report safety, environmental incidents, accidents, and non-conformities.

  • Collect samples from incoming raw materials and finished products; perform required tests and analyses.

  • Perform sieve analysis of raw materials according to established procedures and schedules.

  • Perform physical quality tests on finished products and record test results.

  • Record test results and report non-conformities to supervisors.

  • Prepare samples for chemical analysis and deliver them to the Quality Control Laboratory.

  • Perform final quality inspections of monolithic finished products prior to packaging and shipment.

  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and equipment.

  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and protection of laboratory equipment.

  • Segregate and store waste in accordance with procedures.

  • Identify EHS non-conformities and support corrective and preventive actions.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, safety, and operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate effectively with production and quality teams.

  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Basic knowledge of quality control and laboratory processes.

  • Experience with sampling and testing is preferred.

  • Knowledge of EHS and occupational health & safety practices.

  • Team player with a strong sense of responsibility.

  • Detail-oriented with good documentation and reporting skills.

  • Ability to safely operate laboratory equipment.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Physical Activity: Requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, and occasional kneeling or crouching. Regular use of hands for sampling, testing, handling laboratory equipment, and data recording. Occasional climbing of stairs and movement between laboratory and production areas.

  • Lifting: Requires occasional lifting, carrying, and moving materials, samples, or equipment weighing up to 25 kg (55 lbs).

  • Vision: Requires accurate near and distance vision, color vision, and the ability to identify material characteristics, read instruments, and interpret test results.

  • Work Environment: Requires working in both laboratory and manufacturing environments, with regular exposure to moving mechanical equipment, dust, heat, and industrial conditions. Appropriate PPE must be worn at all times.

  • Noise: Requires occasional exposure to moderate to high noise levels in production areas; hearing protection must be used where required.
