Position Summary The purpose of this position is to advance research and educational programs in oral, dental, and craniofacial sciences, with a focus on oral microbiology, salivary biology, and microbiome research. Responsibilities include developing and sustaining an innovative, collaborative, and externally funded research program; designing and teaching predoctoral and graduate-level coursework; and mentoring students and trainees in the MS and PhD Oral Sciences programs. Duties Responsibilities Research and Service: Develop and maintain an externally funded, and independent research program focused on oral, dental, and craniofacial sciences with emphasis on oral microbiology, salivary biology, microbiome research, and related areas that advance understanding of oral and systemic health, disease mechanisms, and therapeutic approaches. Collaborate with faculty to build successful research teams within the college and across campus in basic and applied sciences. Prolific grant writing and research publications. Participate in departmental and college committees. Participate in collegiate faculty meetings as well as departmental meetings, and other divisional meetings and departmental conferences on a regular basis Participate in continuing education programs in the College and at other locations as deemed appropriate. Teaching/Education: Assist with course development and assessment tools, particularly as lead content expert in the area of oral, dental, and craniofacial sciences, oral microbiology, oral biofilm, salivary research and related areas that advance understanding of oral and systemic health, disease mechanisms, and therapeutic approaches. Provide creative leadership in further development of undergraduate and graduate programming including course directorship. Advise and direct undergraduate, graduate students, residents, and postdoctoral research trainees, includes mentoring research thesis. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
