Faculty Position - Tenure-Track/Tenured (Engineering Systems and Design)
Singapore University of Technology and Design Faculty Position - Tenure-Track/Tenured (Engineering Systems and Design)
Open Faculty Positions at the Engineering Systems and Design Pillar
The Engineering Systems and Design (ESD) pillar within the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) is pursuing multiple, exceptional tenure-track/tenured faculty hires at all levels.
About SUTD and ESD
The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) has topped the list of emerging engineering schools (MIT report, 2018) and possesses a unique structure and mission within the vibrant nation of Singapore. SUTD features the integration of design with engineering, an intimate student to faculty ratio, an innovative active learning pedagogy, an interdisciplinary pillar organization, a stellar faculty, and a beautiful new campus. The Engineering Systems and Design (ESD) pillar within SUTD offers exceptional undergraduate and doctoral degrees focusing on Business Analytics and Operations Research, Financial Services, Supply Chain and Logistics, and Aviation Systems. ESD research spans optimization, systems and control, artificial intelligence and data science, and decision-making for complex engineering systems, including robotics and autonomous systems. ESD undergraduates are prepared for a wide range of engineering and management careers in the private and public sectors, including healthcare, banking, manufacturing, supply chains, energy, transportation, entertainment, and hospitality. They are also well prepared for entrepreneurship and launching start-up ventures.

- Aviation, with particular interest in airport operations;
- Supply chain and logistics;
- Quantitative finance and financial engineering;
- Healthcare analytics and operations; and
- Operations enabled by robotics, automation, and autonomous systems, with emphasis on operational decision-making, planning, coordination, control, optimization and deployment.
Candidates should demonstrate strong methodological or computational expertise in one or more of the following areas: operations research and optimization; statistics, machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), and data science; systems theory, optimal control, and discrete-event systems; quantum computing; and high-performance computing. We welcome candidates from a broad range of disciplinary backgrounds whose research connects these methodological foundations with one or more of the application domains above.
Successful candidates should be specialised in the relevant discipline. Empirical, experimental, computational, and analytical research approaches are all welcome. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and to developing and sustaining an active research program.
Successful candidates can look forward to competitive remuneration, assistance for relocation to Singapore, and attractive research start-up packages through SUTD Kickstarter Initiative (SKI) and grant opportunities.
A candidate’s full application package should include:
- A cover letter
- Curriculum Vitae (CV), including publications
- Research statement / plans
