Position Summary
The FAME (Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education) Program Coordinator is responsible for the leadership, coordination, and instructional delivery of the College's FAME Program. This position assists with management of program operations, student recruitment and retention, employer partnerships, workforce development activities, and program compliance while teaching courses and facilitating learning experiences that support student success.
This position is postedin compliance with Alabama Code§ 16-22-15 . It is the intent to place a current employee in this position.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Complies with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Central Alabama Community College.
- Supervises Workforce Development and Career Technical Education personnel assigned to the FAME Program, including coordinating work assignments, monitoring performance, supporting professional development, and ensuring program objectives are achieved in accordance with college policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with the Director in the planning, development, administration, and monitoring of program budgets; assists with resource allocation, purchasing, inventory management, and fiscal accountability in accordance with college policies and procedures.
- Teaches assigned courses, including classroom, laboratory, hybrid, and work-based learning experiences, in accordance with college policies, FAME requirements, industry standards, and approved curriculum.
- Evaluates and assesses student performance; maintains accurate academic records, attendance records, grades, and other instructional documentation in accordance with college policies and accreditation requirements.
- Collaborates with business and industry partners to coordinate student work experiences, employer rotations, mentoring activities, and program events that strengthen workforce readiness.
- Maintains regular communication with employer partners to monitor student performance, address concerns, and ensure alignment between academic instruction and workplace expectations.
- Assists with planning and coordinating industry events, manufacturing showcases, facility tours, demo days, Project MFG activities, and other workforce engagement initiatives.
- Collaborates with instructional leadership and industry representatives to maintain curriculum relevance by incorporating emerging technologies, workforce competencies, and industry best practices.
- Maintains laboratory equipment, instructional materials, and training resources to ensure safe, effective, and efficient learning environments; assists with equipment inventory and maintenance as assigned.
- Assists with developing and maintaining relationships with employers, economic development organizations, secondary schools, and community partners to promote the FAME Program and strengthen workforce pipelines.
- Participates in advisory committee meetings and collaborates with industry professionals to identify workforce needs and recommend program enhancements.
- Represents the College and the FAME Program at recruitment events, industry meetings, career fairs, community outreach activities, and other events as assigned.
- Maintains current knowledge of advanced manufacturing technologies, workforce trends, instructional methodologies, and labor market needs through professional development and industry engagement.
- Participates in College meetings, faculty activities, professional development programs, commencement exercises, and other institutional functions as required.
- Assists with purchasing requests, inventory tracking, budgeting support, and resource management in accordance with college policies and procedures.
- Adheres to all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and college policies governing instructional programs, student records, and workplace safety.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Advanced Manufacturing, Industrial Maintenance, Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Technology, Technical Education, Workforce Development, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution is required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in advanced manufacturing, industrial maintenance, automation, mechatronics, engineering technology, technical training, workforce development, or a related field is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes, workplace safety practices, and current industry standards is required.
- Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills is required.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, employers, industry partners, and community stakeholders is required.
- Experienced in project management is required.
- Excellent organizational and presentation skills are required.
- Teaching experience in a community college, technical college, apprenticeship, workforce development, or industrial training environment is required.
- Supervisory or program management experience is required.
- Ability to travel to and from all campus locations and attend activities and events in designated areas as assigned is required.
- Ability to work in a high demand collaborative team work area, maintain a positive attitude, communicate effectively, and manage multiple priorities is required.
- Ability to apply problem solving and prioritization skills with minimum supervision is required.
- Functional knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required.
- Ability to search, locate, read, interpret, and apply policy and standards is required.
- Familiarity with regional and national workforce trends, technology innovations, and emerging industry sectors is preferred.
