The Opportunity
As a Family Medicine Physician at GMHC, you will provide comprehensive care focused on health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of acute and chronic conditions.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients across the lifespan
- Promoting preventive care, wellness, and appropriate health screenings
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and developing individualized treatment plans
- Prescribing medications and therapeutic treatments within your scope of practice
- Educating and counseling patients and families regarding health conditions and treatment options
- Coordinating referrals and continuity of care with other healthcare professionals
- Responding to patient questions and concerns in a timely manner
- Maintaining accurate and complete medical documentation
- Collaborating positively with medical staff and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Serving as a resource in decisions and planning related to clinic services
- Responding appropriately to urgent and emergency patient care needs
What We're Looking For
Candidates must:
- Be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine and/or Internal Medicine
- Hold or be eligible to obtain an active Iowa physician license
- Maintain current DEA registration and Iowa Controlled Substances Act registration
- Meet GMHC Medical Staff membership and credentialing requirements
- Maintain certifications required by hospital privileges
- Complete required Child and Dependent Adult Mandatory Reporter training
- Demonstrate excellent communication, collaboration, empathy, professionalism, and a commitment to patient-centered care
