Family Support Worker
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- Provides direct support and services to victims of crime and provides outreach services to families and develop individualized service plans.
- Assists with guardianship, family placements, home safety checks, foster care placements, monthly and regular client visits.
- Directs caregivers to resources for the benefit of children in ICW custody.
- Arranges and schedules appointments and services for families as needed.
- Maintains a confidential system of records, subject to disclosure to a non-party only upon order of the corresponding tribal and state courts.
- Assists with all reporting for funding sources as well as required internal reporting requirements relating to current Community Advocacy Department grants and funding.
- Assists clients with access to individual/family counseling services for youth and their families involved with the Indian Child Welfare Department.
- Develops case plans concerning any minor, if an investigation supports, an administrative or judicial finding that the minor is in need of care.
- Provides or arranges transportation for clients as needed.
- Performs a range of staff and/or operational support activities; may serve as a liaison with other departments on basic administrative and/or operational matters.
What you’ll need to be successful:
- Education experience such as Associates Degree in Social Science, Human Services, Education, Communication, Psychology or related field.
- Three years of human service case management experience and/or a combination of thereof.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and reunification guidelines, processes and practices.
- Knowledge of LGBTQ community
- Knowledge of Child Sexual Abuse
- Ability to take an average of 18 weeks of On-Call responsibilities for ICW and Community Advocacy each year.
- Ability to teach classes for parenting and life skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to gather data, calculate support calculations, compile information, and prepare reports.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
- Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
- Must successfully pass all applicable background checks and drug screens
