Family Support Worker
Job Summary
A Family Support Worker at Jenda Family Services helps children, parents, and families overcome challenges by providing practical assistance, support, access to community resources, and supervise visitation between family members. Family Support Workers maintain accurate case records, monitor progress, advocate for families, and collaborate with schools, healthcare providers, and Nebraska’s Department of Health and Human Services. They aim to improve family stability, ensure child safety, and empower families to achieve greater independence and positive outcomes.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Transport children, youth, and family members for supervised visitation and family support in your personal vehicle.
- Clearly communicate expectations and provide redirection during visits.
- Prepare timely and thorough documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational standards.
- Consult regularly with supervisors regarding case status, progress, barriers, and successes.
- Guide clients in developing strategies to address court-mandated and family-identified goals to improve family functioning.
- Maintain confidential client records and uphold client confidentiality in all interactions and documentation.
- Represent Jenda Family Services in a professional and positive manner.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
- This is a field-based position where staff travel to and work primarily in family homes, potentially encountering unclean environments and exposure to smoke, insects, or clutter.
- Daily travel exposes workers to outdoor weather conditions.
- Staff must be willing to travel in and around Lincoln, Omaha, and surrounding counties for visitation.
Position Type:
- This position is considered a Variable Hour position with weekly hours ranging from 15-40 hours.
- Expect part-time hours throughout the 4–6-week training period. Hours can be built up to full-time once out of training.
- Hours are assigned based on staff availability and case referral acceptance.
Pay
- Starting pay range is $20-$22 per hour based on education and experience.
- Reviews and potential raises at 6 months of employment and every year from hire anniversary.
