FDIR System Engineer

We are looking for an Fault Detection, Isolation, and Recovery (FDIR) Engineer​ on behalf of and in support to our client for one of their locations in either ​Milan, Rome, Benevento or Turin, Italy​.

In this position, you will help define the satellite FDIR along the whole project lifecycle, including concept, detailed design, implementation, verification, and in-orbit operations. You will interact with the Lead system engineer and all the different disciplines as OBSW, Avionics, AOCS/GNC, Propulsion, Power, Thermal etc.

The successful candidate has a deep and proven knowledge of missions, space systems, subsystems and equipment.

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage).

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Carry out FDIR concept, design, consolidation and fine tuning;

  • Contribute to system, satellite, avionic and SW architectures;

  • Contribute to Software specification;

  • Contribute to User Manuals;

  • Identify and analyze spacecraft operational constraints;

  • Contribute to verification process and campaign;

  • Participate in project technical and progress meetings;

  • Participate in system and equipment reviews;

  • Provide support to in-orbit operations (LEOP, commissioning etc.).

  • Master’s, PhD or equivalent education in a relevant field;

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the industry;

  • Strong knowledge of satellite systems engineering, mission and operations;

  • Experience in various satellite engineering domains (eg. Operations, SW, AOCS/GNC etc.);

  • Excellent sense of responsibility;

  • Structured hands-on work-approach;

  • Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously;

  • Excellent problem-solving skills;

  • Good interpersonal skills;

  • Customer oriented thinking-approach;

  • Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the EU;

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
