Student Employee: Academic Operations Support Specialist


Position Overview

The Academic Operations Support Specialist Assistant Provost for Academic Operations in managing the daily operations of the Academics Office. This Howell campus, in-person position (not virtual or hybrid) involves a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the smooth functioning of the department, including data management, report generation, and office organization. The role provides an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in academic administration and operations within a higher education setting.

Responsibilities
  • Data Management
  • Enter and update data into various databases and systems accurately. Verify and reconcile data to ensure its accuracy and completeness. Generate reports and summaries to assist with departmental data analysis.
  • Office Operations
  • Assist in maintaining organization and order within the Academics Office.
  • Handle phone, e-mail, and walk-in inquiries, providing timely and professional responses.
  • Revise, create, and manage handouts, flyers, website language, etc. to support communication with students, faculty, and staff on behalf of Academics.

Expected Skills
  • Complete special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Provost, Assistant Provost for Academic Operations, Deans, or Instructional Designer.
  • Participate in meetings and contribute to discussions on process improvements.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in both Google Apps and Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Previous office or administrative experience is a plus but not required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be a current student at Cleary University.
  • At least 2 semesters remaining in your academic program.
  • Must be in good academic standing (and continue to be in good academic standing).
  • Demonstrated interest in working in the higher education setting in academic affairs/operations.
  • Can commit to working physically on the Howell campus 10-15 hours per week during the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 Semesters.
