Fellowships and EL Coordinator Graduate Assistant (Summer 2026 C91210)
Housed within the Center for Advising and Career Services (CACS) and Academic Operations and reporting to the Director of Experiential Learning, this dual-focus role supports the implementation of vision and strategy for fellowship outreach and experiential learning programs at the Middlebury Institute. The Graduate Assistant (GA) provides data management, resource generation, communications, and strategic advising to support students participating in flagship fellowships and credit-bearing practicums and global courses.
This is a MIIS student Level A position paying $16.95 per hour.
Core Responsibilities
1. Outreach & Communications
- Fellowship Promotion: Promote upcoming opportunities via flyers, digital signage, and the This Week @ MIIS newsletter.
- Storytelling: Connect with students in various programs to profile their experiences on the MIIS website and social platforms.
- Digital Presence: Maintain and update fellowship info and practicum webpages on the MIIS website, Google Sites, and WordPress.
- Email Management: Manage the general fellowship email account and respond to student inquiries in a timely fashion
2. Student Advising & Application Support
- Advising: Support the Faculty Director in advising applicants through exploratory sessions and providing constructive feedback on fellowship essays.
- Application Logistics: Assist with the collection and tracking of required forms for semester-long practicum courses like PSS and IEM.
- Workshops: Coordinate, market, and host information sessions and workshops via Zoom or in-person.
3. Program Logistics & Event Coordination
- Fellowship Management: Manage day-to-day logistics for flagship fellowships, including Fulbright, Boren, Projects for Peace, and the Critical Language Scholarship.
- Event Planning: Organize and publicize major events such as the IEM Symposium and PSS Panel Presentations, including room reservations and technology support.
- Evaluation: Coordinate evaluation processes by convening faculty and staff fellowship committees.
4. Data Management & Reporting
- Reporting: Assist in developing the Experiential Learning Impact Report and maintaining records of student internship placements.
- Funnel Tracking: Track the recruitment funnel using processes like Canvas courses and Google Forms.
- Resource Maintenance: Maintain fellowship resources in shared Google Drives and update the Onsite Experiential Learning Guide
Requirements
Position Prerequisites:
· Organization: Well-organized and capable of managing multiple projects with overlapping deadlines.
· Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Wordpress.
· Communication: Strong writing, editing, and public speaking skills; experience in marketing events is preferred.
· Confidentiality: Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student records and evaluation processes.
· Adaptability: A desire to grow subject matter expertise in unfamiliar fellowships and a willingness to assist with other experiential learning projects as time permits.
