As a Staff Development Coordinator for our Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care department for Freedom House you will provide assistance to the Director and Nurse Manager in a variety of activities to maintain compliance with local, State and Federal regulations. Responsibilities include assessing, developing, and implementing staff development activities and programs associated with maintaining education and compliance for all staff assigned to ACRCF. This includes, but is not limited to, orientation, safety, emergency procedures, apprenticeships, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, job specific training and continuing education and certification programs. Proactively identifies opportunities for skill enhancement to meet the growing needs of the organization. Keeps abreast of industry standards and innovations and incorporates same into the staff development program. This position functions as ACRC QAPI Coordinator and accepts on call responsibilities on a rotating basis.
What you will do in this role:
- Ensures programs for employee orientation, safety, emergency procedures, job specific training and continuing in-service education are conducted in a timely manner and meet BST, local, State, federal, and OSHA standards; continually reviews and evaluates the effectiveness of same and makes modifications as appropriate.
- Fire evacuation status update and posting
- Monitors and implements Flu Action Plans
- Monitors compliance of orientation requirements for ACRC employees and ensures they have received adequate training.
- Maintains employee training records as prescribed by BST policies and State standards.
- Schedules new ACRC employee training and continuing in-service education to meet employee needs.
- Verifies and ensures that ACRC employee licenses and certifications are maintained, current, and held in good standing; provides timely notification to all licensed employees of license expiration and renewal dates.
- Coordinates Quality Assurance Program (QAPI) meeting to include Audits, scheduling, assignments and compiling information.
- In charge of Falls to include tracking, scheduling committee meeting and gathering information
- Conducts ACRC Pharmacy oversight to include conducting audits, arranging drug destruction and consulting with Pharmacy staff.
- Develops and implements electronic training curriculum with Supervisor for designated employees.
- Coordinates with Director in regards to the various ACRC departments on education program development and implementation to include: fire safety, fire drills, and other needs, as identified.
- Evaluates the status of ACRC employees with respect to staff development programs, needs, and competencies.
- Attends ongoing education seminars related to person-centered care, geriatric clients, LTC regulations, industry standards and innovations, and other related issues, as required. Practice nursing skills within ones scope of practice, adhering to all state and federal regulations.
- Lead Care Giver duties as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
