Fiber & Cushion Fill Assembler

Summary

Assemble and inspect cushions by operating fiber-filling equipment, inserting materials, and ensuring quality standards in a manufacturing environment.

Hourly Wage: $17.75

DESCRIPTION/JOB SUMMARY

Operate fiber filling equipment and perform manual assembly processes to fill, shape, and inspect cushions and related upholstered components according to production specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

•Review work orders, production schedules, diagrams, and specifications to determine required materials, quantities, and filling requirements

•Select the components, fiber, and other materials for each product

•Operate fiber-blowing, cushion-filling, vacuum, compression, and other related production equipment

•Measure, weigh, and distribute fiber or other filling materials according to product specifications

•Insert foam, fiber, and other cushioning materials into covers and ensure materials are properly positioned

•Shape, smooth, and adjust completed cushions to achieve the required appearance, firmness, dimensions, and comfort

•Close, zip, fasten, or otherwise secure covers after filling

•Install or attach buttons to cushions and upholstered components using a Button Press Machine and button needles as required

•Inspect materials and finished products for defects, incorrect fill levels, unevenness, wrinkles, damage, or other quality concerns

•Verify completed products meet applicable work instructions and quality standards before moving them to the next stage of production

•Identify and report defective materials, equipment concerns, and production discrepancies to management

•Meet established production and quality expectations while minimizing material waste

•Perform basic equipment upkeep, including cleaning equipment, removing fiber buildup, and reporting maintenance needs

•Ensure all safety and security rules are strictly observed and any accidents, incidents or injuries are promptly reported to management

•Complete the annual CTPAT Security Training

•Focus on continuous improvement, and consistently demonstrate good business judgment

•Work effectively with all Pride departments to exceed internal and external expectations

•Pride retains the discretion to modify duties and/or assign other duties as necessary

REQUIRED SKILLS

•Must be a team player, friendly, detail-oriented, and honest

Must have the ability to:

•Multi-task, problem-solve, and prioritize in a fast-paced working environment

•Lift/Push/Pull 40 lbs.*

*Employees will be provided with assistance with lifting in excess of 40 lbs. (i.e. another employee or a hoist)

Must have:

•Relentless drive to achieve advancement and continuous improvement

•Good verbal and written communication skills

•A willingness to learn and/or adapt to new work methods

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

•At least 1 year of fiber and cushion fill operation experience required

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

•At least 1 year of experience operating a button press machine preferred

•At least 1 year of cushion assembly or furniture production experience preferred

•Current or previous successful employment experience with Pride Mobility Products Corporation preferred

PREFERRED EDUCATION

•High School Diploma or GED preferred

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

•Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now, or in the future
