Field Analysis Specialist
Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Cargo and Conveyance Security Directorate, Cargo Security and Control Division, located in Washington, DC. In this position you will lead or conduct complex analyses related to targeting criteria management and commercial trade enforcement, directing administrative work for import requirements, support Import Specialists and CBP Officers through research on importation data and intelligence, develop enforcement criteria within ACE and ATS UDR systems, and may conduct anti-terrorism and border security assessments. This position starts at a salary of $121,785.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $158,322.00 (GS-13, Step 10). Typical duties for this position are: Researching and analyzing, or directing others in the research and analysis of, CBP commercial import and export entry transactions, formal and informal, as well as vehicular, passenger and carrier operations as they relate and interrelate with each of the office's operating programs to determine normal patterns and deviations from the norm in order to predict potential violations Performing, or directing others in the performance of, in-depth analysis, using data query and other research tools, of intelligence data gathered from CBP and other agency enforcement elements to determine the correlation of this data to CBP national and local operational enforcement efforts Performing a wide range of functions at varying levels of difficulty and complexity to include intelligence collection management, creation of target folders, threat assessments and other in-depth studies Serving as a project leader on a workgroup or project that has an impact on national or local workload and procedures. Leading inter-agency committees as a representative of DHS and may be empowered to make agreements and commitments in accordance with previously received instructions Preparing written findings and recommendations in an effective and convincing manner, including the ability to produce analytical findings and apply special tools such as computerized graphics and spreadsheets in the development of reports GS Salary: Visit this link to view the locality pay tables by geographic area.
