Field Application Engineer, UAV Systems
We are looking for a Field Application Engineer to join our team. This role is for a technical expert who views every flight and integration as an exploratory search for optimal performance. You will be the bridge between R&D and our partners, focusing on complex hardware-software integration, system tuning, and radio optimization.
Responsibilities
Manage the technical implementation of the software stack into partner UAV platforms, ensuring seamless compatibility between hardware and firmware
Lead exploratory tuning sessions, including PID, application parameter optimization and vibration analysis, to achieve maximum flight stability for new vehicle configurations
Optimize RF links and telemetry systems; analyze and resolve interference issues in complex digital/analog environments
Integrate and calibrate sensors, GPS modules, and peripherals using standard embedded protocols (CAN, I2C, SPI) to ensure reliable data flow
Diagnose complex integration problems (firmware parameters, wiring, power distribution) in both laboratory and field conditions
Conduct flight activities to validate R&D hypotheses, test system limits, and verify the performance of production batches according to safety SOPs
Act as a subject-matter expert for partners, leading technical demos and providing structured feedback to the core engineering team based on field observations
Maintain the internal drone fleet in a high-performance state, ensuring all test assets are technically calibrated and mission-ready
Requirements
Deep hands-on experience with flight control systems (PX4 / ArduPilot) and a strong understanding of the MAVLink protocol
Proficient in hardware integration, with a solid understanding of embedded communication protocols (CAN, I2C, SPI) and power distribution
Strong understanding of radio principles and the ability to creatively optimize communication links in challenging environments
Expert skills in electronics, precision soldering, and wiring, with the ability to interpret complex technical diagrams and schematics
Proven ability to analyze telemetry data and prepare structured technical reports, configuration templates, and incident logs
Readiness to work in field conditions, managing multiple technical priorities independently with a self-starter mindset
Technical level of English (B1/B2) for coordination with international teams and reviewing technical documentation
Will be a plus:
Experience with Linux environments (command line, system configuration).
Familiarity with version control systems (GitHub, GitLab).
