Field Data Engineer Trainee u2014 Kashmir Valley
Summary
Field-based trainee role installing, configuring and maintaining IoT sensors on farms across the Kashmir Valley (3 site visits/week), pairing devices to gateways over Bluetooth on Windows 11, monitoring data quality on dashboards, and logging findings in Excel. Suited to fresh graduates with a relevant degree and Hindi/Urdu/English skills.
Job Summary
One of two trainee openings in the Valley. The Kashmir deployment is the one published as Case Study 12 in the World Bank-supported casebook, which means the numbers in it came from somebody going to the site and checking. This is that job. You will be on the farms three days a week, with the sensors, the laptop and the gateway, and the data quality of a whole deployment rests on the care you take with it. Fresh graduates are the people we are looking for; the training comes from us.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, test and maintain IoT sensors at deployment sites across the Valley, with scheduled visits three times a week
- Pair sensors with gateways over Bluetooth Low Energy on Windows 11, verify that data is synchronising, and diagnose it when it is not
- Watch the dashboards: data quality, completeness, trend and anomaly, and escalate an abnormal reading or a failed device to the engineering team rather than letting it sit
- Help implement and validate the data processing - cleaning, filtering, aggregation, anomaly detection - and compare what the algorithm says against what you saw in the field
- Keep the installation records, device inventory and field logs, and write the weekly report in Excel or from the dashboard
Requirements
- BCA, B.Sc. or B.Tech. in computer science or software engineering, or a diploma or degree in electronics, electrical engineering, computer hardware, networking or instrumentation
- Working knowledge of Windows 11, and enough Bluetooth pairing and troubleshooting to get a device talking again in a field with no help nearby
- Comfortable with Excel and a web dashboard; a basic grasp of how data is collected, processed and analysed
- Hindi and Urdu for the field and the farmers, English for the documentation, the software and the engineering team
- Able to carry sensors, a laptop and installation kit to farms, veterinary institutions and livestock facilities, and willing to travel within the Valley
- Python, SQL or Power BI is an advantage and is not required
