Role at a Glance
Title: Field Engineer
Team: Customer Success / Account Management
Employment Type: Full-time
Location: Remote (APAC)
Why This Role Matters
Our enterprise customers operate across complex systems, workflows, languages, and regulatory environments. Turning Hupo’s technology into successful customer outcomes requires more than configuring software or designing solutions — it requires engineers who can build, customise, integrate, and deploy solutions directly in customer environments.
As a Field Engineer, you’ll work at the intersection of software engineering and customer delivery. You’ll own the technical implementation of client-specific solutions, from understanding requirements and writing code to testing, deployment, and troubleshooting.
You’ll also help Hupo scale by turning recurring customer requirements into reusable tools, improving our codebase, and bringing successful custom use cases back into the core platform. Your work will directly influence implementation speed, product quality, customer satisfaction, and revenue growth.
What You'll Do
Build and deploy client-specific solutions
Write, modify, test, and deploy code to customise Hupo’s products for enterprise customers, going beyond configuration when bespoke logic or functionality is required.
Own the technical implementation of client requirements, from scoping and solution design through development, testing, and deployment.
Troubleshoot bugs and resolve technical issues directly, escalating to the wider Engineering team when deeper platform changes or novel solutions are needed.
Integrate with enterprise systems
Build and support integrations with client systems, including CRMs, Learning Management Systems, APIs, single sign-on, identity management, and other enterprise platforms.
Translate business requirements into technical specifications and scalable solutions that work within customers’ existing systems, security requirements, and deployment environments.
Support enterprise hosting, data-export, security, and compliance requirements.
Drive implementation quality
Own technical delivery across multiple client engagements, managing implementation timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations.
Design and manage user acceptance testing (UAT), consolidate customer feedback, prioritise fixes, and implement improvements directly wherever possible.
Create and maintain client-specific configurations, documentation, and testing processes, including across multiple languages and regulatory contexts.
Improve our AI products and platform
Work with AI and LLM-based systems, including prompt configuration, evaluations, model testing, and quality assurance.
Write evaluations (evals) for client use cases and bring successful patterns and learnings back into the core platform.
Develop reusable tools, integrations, and solution patterns that reduce repeated custom work and make future deployments faster and more scalable.
Work closely with customers and internal teams
Serve as the primary technical owner for assigned accounts, building credibility with customer stakeholders and supporting technical discussions, demonstrations, scoping sessions, and proofs of concept.
Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Commercial, and Customer Success to prioritise customer needs and deliver meaningful outcomes.
Contribute to process improvements and self-serve tooling that reduce implementation time and unnecessary Engineering dependency.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first few months, you'll:
Take ownership of client-specific technical implementations, delivering working customisations and integrations with support from the wider team where needed.
Become comfortable navigating Hupo’s codebase, debugging issues, and deploying changes to meet customer requirements.
Build a clear understanding of our product, customer workflows, and enterprise deployment requirements.
Establish reliable testing, documentation, and implementation practices across your assigned projects.
You’ll also be expected to continuously:
Improve implementation speed and quality while reducing unnecessary Engineering escalations.
Turn recurring customer requirements into reusable code, tools, and platform capabilities.
Help customers realise value faster and identify opportunities that support adoption and expansion.
Adapt and expand your impact as customer needs and business priorities evolve.
What We're Looking For
Must-Haves
4–7 years of software engineering experience, ideally in backend development, with experience in customer-facing technical implementation, enterprise software deployment, or a similar environment.
Strong hands-on coding ability — comfortable writing, modifying, debugging, testing, and deploying production code to deliver client-specific solutions.
Experience building or customising enterprise SaaS products, including bespoke features, business logic, or integrations.
Strong understanding of APIs, system integrations, data pipelines, and how different systems communicate.
Experience troubleshooting technical issues and implementing fixes directly within an existing codebase.
Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and practical, scalable solutions.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently across multiple projects in a fast-moving environment.
Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical teams and customer stakeholders.
Nice-to-Haves
Experience with Python or other backend languages, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise deployment environments.
Familiarity with AI and LLM-based systems, including prompt engineering, evaluations, model testing, and quality assurance.
Experience with CRM or Learning Management System integrations, single sign-on, identity management, and enterprise security requirements.
Experience working with banks, insurers, financial services companies, or other highly regulated enterprises.
Experience with UAT, testing frameworks, and developing reusable tools or automation to improve delivery efficiency.
Familiarity with multi-market, multi-language, private-cloud, or data-residency deployments.
Experience in Forward Deployed Engineering, Field Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or technical consulting roles that involve actively building and deploying solutions, rather than focusing primarily on solution design.
