About the Position:
The Field Engineer II is a key member of the Operations team responsible for configuring, commissioning, testing, and validating audiovisual systems to ensure they are fully functional and ready for customer delivery. This role bridges engineering, fabrication, and field operations by bringing complex AV systems from design to reality. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in professional AV systems, audio DSP, networking, and troubleshooting, along with a passion for delivering high-quality customer experiences. Travel to project sites throughout the United States is required.
What You Will Do:
- Configure and commission AV systems during staging and after field installation to ensure zero-defect delivery.
- Review engineering documentation, signal flow diagrams, and installation drawings for accuracy and constructability.
- Configure network switches, IP settings, Dante audio subscriptions, EDID routing, DSP programming, and device communications.
- Perform system testing, audio tuning, gain structure calibration, signal verification, and final commissioning checklists.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Fabrication Technicians, and Operations teams throughout project execution.
- Identify design issues, troubleshoot system performance, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Travel to local and remote project sites to support system commissioning, customer turnover, and project completion activities.
What We’re Looking For:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- 3+ years of professional audiovisual industry experience with system configuration, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with enterprise AV technologies, audio DSP systems, control systems, and AV-over-IP environments.
- Experience reading and interpreting AV construction documents, signal flow diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting network-connected AV systems and devices.
- AVIXA CTS certification required; CTS-D and/or CTS-I preferred.
- AQAV CQT and CQD certifications preferred.
- Audinate Dante Level 1 and Level 2 certifications preferred.
- Q-SYS Level 1 and Level 2 certifications preferred. · Biamp Tesira, Crestron DM, and Extron certifications preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License required; ability to obtain a U.S. Passport required.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% and work occasional nights or out-of-town assignments as business needs require.
What We Prefer:
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to configure and support systems utilizing Biamp, QSC, Crestron, AMX, and Extron technologies.
- Knowledge of network switch configuration, TCP/IP communication, and basic network troubleshooting.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to deliver systems to 100% completion.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
- Ability to mentor less experienced team members and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
- Professional demeanor and commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
