WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Field Marketing Intern, you will participate in grassroots marketing efforts which include traveling to various events aimed at interacting with consumers, generating consumer leads, and serving as an Indianapolis Motor Speedway Ambassador. The Field Marketing Team is responsible for successful execution of events, representing the image of the brand and providing memorable experiences to everyone they encounter. The Field Marketing Team is a paid promotional internship program and is onsite at IMS during major race weekends interacting with fans and assisting with event operations. Outside of race weekends the Field Marketing Team works at community events, festivals, and other racetracks throughout the state.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage displays, collateral and promotional items at events (including set-up and tear down)
- Engage fans of all ages/backgrounds at events and identify future event opportunities from consumers
- Manage and operate the Indy Commons in the Sam’s Club Fan Midway throughout the Month of May, Brickyard Weekend, and other race weekends at IMS
- Support a growing consumer database by getting fans to sign-up for giveaways and other promotions
- Become a credible brand expert for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the NTT INDYCAR Series
- Develop and maintain knowledge of the IMS brand and various athletes
- Have an outgoing personality that captivates an audience and excites fans to experience the Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Required Experience & Skills:
- 21+ preferred
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited college or university
- Passionate about sports, motorsports and/or sports marketing
- High integrity and confidentiality
- Result-oriented
- Possess creativity and problem-solving skills
- Possess strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, written, and verbal skills
- Innovative thinker and self-starter with perseverance to lead teams to success
- Local market knowledge is a plus
- Passion for community engagement and storytelling
- Bilingual candidates preferred

- Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time during events.
- Must treat company vehicle with care whether on or off the road
- Handle all field marketing equipment and displays with care during transport, use and storage
Education:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a four-year college or university, pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Sports Management, or a related field
Leadership:
- This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities
FLEXIBILITY & TRAVEL:
Must be able to work at least one event shift per week or 10-15 hours. Required dates include:

May: Must be available to work at IMS and at off-site field marketing events 20-25 hours per week. Required dates include:
- May 1 – Month of May Kick-off Event
- May 14 – Sonsio Grand Prix Practice & Qualifying
- May 15 – Sonsio Grand Prix Race Day
- May 18 – Naturalization Ceremony
- May 21 – Indy 500 Fast Friday Practice
- May 22 – PPG presents Indy 500 Armed Forces Qualifying
- May 23 – PPG presents Indy 500 Armed Forces Qualifying
- May 26 – Community Day presented by Gallagher and Coca-Cola Indy 500 Porch Party Winner Visits
- May 28 – Miller Lite Carb Day
- May 29 – Legends Day
- May 30 – 111th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge
June-September: Must be available to work at least one event shift per week or 10-15 hours per week. Required dates include:
- July 22 – Hauler Parade
- July 23 – Brickyard Weekend Practice
- July 24 – Pennzoil 250 presented by Take 5 Oil Change
- July 25 – Brickyard 400 presented by PPG
- September 16 – IMSA Street Festival
- September 17 – IMSA Practice
- September 18 – IMSA Qualifying
- September 19 – TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks IMSA Race
Additional Requirements
- Must be available to work weekends
- Must have a flexible schedule
- Must be willing to work unusual hours
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and assist with event set-up and tear-down.
- Extended periods of standing or walking (as needed)
- Comfortable working indoors/outdoors and around event noise
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Fast-paced, collaborative office and event settings
- Staff will experience frequent interruptions and must be prepared to interact with others on a regular basis
