Field Quality Manager - Quality Management and Technical Support
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Educational Qualifications:
- 10+ year Experience with Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
- Diploma in the relevant discipline may be acceptable for candidates with 12–15+ years of strong solar/EPC quality experience.
- Preferred Certifications:
- QA/QC Certification (e.g., ASQ-CQE, ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor)
- Electrical Safety / HV Switching certification (for electrical-focused roles)
- PV-specific training or certification
- Knowledge of Standards:
- Indian Standards (IS codes), IEC standards for PV modules, inverters, electrical equipment
Functional Skills:
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of utility-scale Solar PV plant construction, from civil works to mechanical & electrical installation.
- Familiarity with IEC, IS, and relevant PV industry standards.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, ITPs, and method statements for PV-specific works.
Quality control expertise in:
- Civil: MMS foundations, trenches, cable ducts, control buildings.
- Mechanical: MMS structure assembly, module mounting, torque verification.
- Electrical: DC/AC cabling, inverter & transformer installation, earthing, SCADA, protection testing.
- Experience in inspecting and accepting PV modules, inverters, transformers, cables, and MMS structures.
- Proficiency in field testing (megger, continuity, earthing resistance, IV curve, HV tests).
Quality Management Skills
- Preparation and implementation of Project Quality Plan (PQP) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- NCR/CAPA management, root cause analysis, and corrective action verification.
- QA/QC dossier preparation for project handover.
Soft Skills
- Strong coordination with EPC contractors, OEMs, and client representatives.
- Good communication and reporting skills (daily/weekly quality reports, inspection notes).
- Problem-solving mindset and proactive quality risk prevention.
- Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and work in remote site conditions.
