The role: Your patch, your relationships, your results
As our Field Sales Manager, you’ll take ownership of your region, driving growth by opening doors with developers and contractors while strengthening our partnerships with merchant customers.
This is a varied, hands-on sales role where you’ll combine new business development, account growth and project-led specification sales. You’ll have the opportunity to influence projects from an early stage, win new opportunities, grow existing accounts and make sure Polypipe is the first choice for our customers.
Your duty? Build a stronger regional presence, win more business and turn customer relationships into long-term commercial success.
Your territory: L, CH, WA, CW, SK, ST, TF and WV.
Important: To be considered for this role, you must live on patch.
What you'll be doing
Winning new business and creating demand
- Identify and convert new sales opportunities across private and social housing developers, local authorities, contractors, groundworkers and site managers.
- Get in early, build relationships with key decision-makers and influence projects before the competition gets there.
- Work closely with technical, commercial and procurement teams to understand customer needs and position the right solutions.
- Keep your pipeline moving, using our Genvue CRM to track opportunities, manage projects and turn potential into profitable sales.
- Showcase our full product range across on-plot and off-plot applications, maximising opportunities to grow sales.
Growing accounts and building partnerships
- Take ownership of your regional merchant accounts, growing sales, increasing product availability and improving visibility at branch level.
- Build strong relationships with branch managers, key influencers and group-level contacts to make Polypipe the go-to choice.
- Deliver engaging presentations, promotions and sales campaigns that support customer objectives and drive results.
- Spot opportunities to win market share from competitors and grow the value of every customer relationship.
- Work collaboratively with our Marketing, Merchandising, Category Management and Desk-Based Account Management teams to make things happen.
Making every sales opportunity count
- Drive revenue, volume and specification pull-through, with a clear focus on achieving and exceeding your targets.
- Plan your time effectively, maintain regular customer contact and make every visit count.
- Use CRM and business planning tools to stay organised, manage your pipeline and keep your sales activity on track.
- Communicate with confidence, negotiate commercially and find solutions that work for both our customers and our business.
Knowing your market and staying ahead
- Keep your finger on the pulse of your region, spotting market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities.
- Share customer feedback and local market insights to help shape our approach and identify new ways to grow.
- Stay up to date with our products, industry regulations and construction trends.
- Support site reporting, audits and compliance activities where required.
What will make you a great fit?
We’re looking for someone who brings energy, initiative and a genuine passion for sales. You’ll be comfortable taking ownership of your territory, building trust with customers and finding opportunities others might miss.
You’ll ideally have:
- Proven sales experience, with a track record of achieving and exceeding targets.
- Experience in field sales, ideally within construction, building products or a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of specification sales, merchant channels or commercial building markets.
- The confidence to communicate, present and influence people at all levels.
- Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to understand customer motivations, negotiate effectively and develop winning sales strategies.
- Excellent relationship-building, listening, presentation and communication skills.
- The ability to interpret sales data, identify opportunities and turn insights into action.
- Experience using CRM systems, digital sales tools and modern sales enablement platforms.
- A full UK driving licence, as regular travel to customers and Polypipe sites is part of the role.
Above all, we want someone who is proactive, customer-focused and motivated by making a difference. If you enjoy the challenge of winning business, developing accounts and delivering results, you'll feel right at home here.
Here at the Genuit Group we recognise and develop the contribution our people make to the Group’s success and are committed to attracting talent from the widest pool. We have a role to play in making the built environment more sustainable, building a low carbon business ourselves as well as delivering sustainable solutions at scale.
