Join Solar Manufacturing’s field service team and play a vital role with cutting-edge vacuum furnace systems for customers across the U.S. and internationally. This is a hands-on, technical position ideal for a mechanically and electrically skilled professional who enjoys solving problems, traveling, and working with high-performance industrial equipment.

What You’ll Do:

As a Field Service Technician, you will work closely with engineering and production teams at our Sellersville, PA facility to perform the initial start-up of vacuum furnaces prior to shipment. Once shipped, you will travel to customer sites to commission the equipment and provide technical support, training and long-term service to ensure our customers’ equipment operates at peak performance.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Perform in-house vacuum furnace start-up testing, inspection, and final system preparation prior to shipment
  • Commission and troubleshoot vacuum furnaces at customer facilities across the U.S. and internationally
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical system issues on-site and remotely
  • Conduct vacuum leak detection (helium mass spectrometer), hot zone repairs, temperature uniformity surveys, pyrometry and vacuum calibrations, and preventive maintenance
  • Provide hands-on customer training during installation and ongoing remote and on-site technical support
  • Travel approximately 50% to support customer needs
  • Document service findings and coordinate with internal teams to resolve issues and implement improvements

What We’re Looking For:

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in industrial equipment service, machinery installation, or field repair
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including knowledge of power distribution, instrumentation, and control systems
  • Proven ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical blueprints, and technical documentation
  • Experience using PLC-based systems for troubleshooting, with basic programming familiarity, preferably Allen-Bradley platforms with RSLogix 500/5000 or Studio 5000 software
  • Proficiency in vacuum and thermal systems, including experience with leak detection and furnace commissioning preferred
  • Strong technical communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly document service activity and collaborate with engineering
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing situations, and deliver results independently or as part of a team
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 50% of the time
