Field Service Technician

The Industrial Field Service Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repair of industrial material handling equipment batteries and charger systems at East Penn Canada customer locations. This role directly contributes to customer satisfaction by ensuring timely, accurate, and professional maintenance and repair services, while maintaining compliance with all East Penn and client site safety and environmental regulations, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities

Daily in-territory travel to customer sites to complete battery and charger inspections, maintenance tasks, and service reports for a variety of East Penn Canada Industrial clientele

Perform Battery/Charger Maintenance work, including in‑shop and field-based servicing and report completion

Inspect and complete minor repairs on cables, connectors, watering systems, and accessories

Conduct a variety of tests on batteries to determine overall battery health and maintenance requirements

Report findings, recommend follow-up repairs, and communicate all inspection results to the customer’s main point of contact

Wash, clean, and water batteries as required

Conduct pre-delivery inspections and install battery monitoring devices, status indicator lights, and accessories

Install, test, repair, and maintain watering systems

Change de-ionizer filters and prepare used batteries for transportation

Maintain daily logs of service activities, client visits, time tracking, and inspection results

Identify opportunities for upselling/cross‑selling based on service findings and communicate these to customer points of contact

Maintain service vehicle based on company standards, and monitor stock levels for parts, tools, and equipment

Develop strong business relationships with customer base and act as a trusted technical advisor

Participate in the development of service programs within the assigned territory

Experience & Qualifications
All East Penn Canada Field Service Technicians receive full battery and charger training, but a strong foundation and background in the following will set you up for success:

Strong mechanical or electrical aptitude (preference given to those with electrical or mechanical technician experience or education)

3+ years’ experience in a technical service-related role, preferably in the field

Extremely strong communication skills in English (reading, writing, speaking) with the confidence and ability to provide clear product information to customers

Excellent technical problem solving and mechanical/electrical troubleshooting skills

Exceptional customer service focus, strong desire to create positive customer experiences, and ability to build lasting professional partnerships with customer contacts

Experience identifying sales opportunities (upselling/cross-selling) and comfort speaking to how upgraded systems would support business output for the customer would be beneficial

Forklift experience and exposure to transportation of dangerous goods are strong assets
