If you’re an experienced reciprocating compression technician who can independently execute complex repairs, troubleshoot equipment in the field, and work across multiple product lines, this is an opportunity to operate at a high technical level while continuing to expand your expertise.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Perform major and minor overhauls, repairs, inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting on reciprocating engines and compressors at customer locations.
  • Execute mechanical procedures with minimal supervision on at least two product lines, applying OEM manuals, specifications, tolerances, and service procedures.
  • Perform and document precision measurements, parts inspections, failure analysis, and quality inspections to ensure equipment meets required specifications.
  • Troubleshoot complex equipment issues, including engine performance, PeakFire pressure balancing, combustion, alignment, and mechanical problems, and determine the appropriate corrective action.
  • Develop Statements of Work (SOWs), material lists, and repair schedules for assigned field projects.
  • Read and interpret OEM manuals, engineering drawings, schematics, Bills of Material, service bulletins, and other technical documentation to identify parts, procedures, and repair requirements.
  • Work directly with customers and internal teams to complete projects safely, efficiently, and to specification, while providing clear service documentation and technical recommendations.

WHO YOU ARE

  • 4–6+ years of hands-on reciprocating compression experience with demonstrated progression through field service responsibilities.
  • Proven experience performing major overhauls and complex mechanical repairs on reciprocating engines and compressors.
  • Able to independently execute work with minimal supervision across at least two product lines.
  • Strong understanding of engine and compressor theory, mechanical systems, precision measurement, alignment, and troubleshooting.
  • Experienced using OEM technical documentation to determine procedures, tolerances, specifications, and parts identification.
  • Able to perform failure analysis, quality inspections, precision measurements, and technical service reporting.
  • Comfortable working in demanding field environments with approximately 80% travel, extended work hours, and changing customer requirements.

PREFERRED

  • Experience with Cooper-Bessemer, Ajax, Superior, Caterpillar, Waukesha, Dresser, Clark, or similar reciprocating compression equipment.
  • Experience with engine balancing, coupling/frame alignment, and web deflection/alignment.
  • Experience developing repair scopes, material requirements, and schedules.
  • Formal technical training or an associate degree in a relevant technical discipline.
