Field Technical Sales Specialist
Solar, Cellular, Low-Voltage Cabling & PSAP Sale
Build It. Fix It. Sell It.
Are you equally comfortable installing equipment in the field and talking with customers about how technology can solve their problems? TEAMSOS is looking for a hands-on Field Technical Sales Specialist to support public safety customers and Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs).
You will travel to customer sites to install and troubleshoot low-voltage cabling, solar-powered equipment, cellular-connected devices, antennas, batteries, and related technology. When field installation demand is lower, you will focus on building relationships, developing PSAP opportunities, and selling our existing products and services.
What You’ll Do
- Field installation and technical service
- Travel to customer locations for installations, site surveys, upgrades, service calls, and troubleshooting.
- Install, route, terminate, label, test, and document Ethernet/data, coaxial, and related low-voltage cabling.
- Mount, connect, configure, and commission solar panels, charge controllers, batteries, enclosures, antennas, cellular gateways, and related field equipment.
- Verify solar generation, battery health, loads, grounding, weatherproofing, and reliable system operation.
- Troubleshoot cellular signal, antennas, cabling, SIM/carrier activation, routers or modems, network registration, and device communication.
- Use test equipment and remote-support tools to complete safe, high-quality work with a strong focus on first-visit resolution.
- Document site conditions, photos, test results, assets, service activity, and customer acceptance.
Sales and revenue development
- Build and manage a qualified pipeline of PSAP and public safety opportunities within assigned accounts and territory.
- Develop trusted relationships with 911 leaders, operations managers, technical staff, procurement teams, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct discovery conversations and site assessments to uncover needs, technical constraints, and opportunities for our current products and services.
- Help prepare scopes of work, bills of material, solution recommendations, service options, and proposals.
- Present and demonstrate solutions, communicate business value, address objections, and ask for the business.
- Drive new-logo, add-on, upgrade, maintenance, recurring-service, and cross-sell revenue while protecting customer experience and margin.
- Maintain timely CRM activity, opportunity stages, next steps, forecasts, and account plans.
What You’ll Bring
Required
- Two or more years of experience in low-voltage cabling, field technology installation, telecommunications, cellular/wireless equipment, solar-powered systems, or a closely related technical field.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technology systematically using test equipment, documentation, software, and remote resources.
- Customer-facing sales, account-development, technical-sales, or business-development experience—or a strong demonstrated ability and desire to sell.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills with technical and nontechnical audiences.
- A self-directed, professional work style and the ability to manage a field assignment or sales opportunity from start to finish.
- Comfort using CRM, productivity, proposal, and field-service tools.
- A valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements. Driving is essential because this role transports tools, equipment, and materials to customer sites where other transportation is not comparable in time or cost.
- Ability to travel frequently, including overnight travel and occasional work outside standard business hours when project or PSAP operational needs require it.
Preferred
- Experience selling to or supporting PSAPs, 911 centers, emergency communications organizations, public safety agencies, or state/local government customers.
- Experience with solar or DC power, batteries, charge controllers, outdoor enclosures, grounding, and weatherproof installations.
- Experience with cellular gateways, modems, routers, antennas, signal testing, SIM provisioning, VPNs, IP networking, or remote telemetry/IoT devices.
- Relevant low-voltage, networking, wireless, solar, safety, tower/antenna, or manufacturer certifications.
Compensation and What We Offer
- $28.00–$32.00 per hour, based on relevant experience, technical capability, and other lawful job-related factors.
- Full-time, nonexempt employment with overtime and other required premiums paid in accordance with applicable law.
- Potential performance-based incentive compensation tied to revenue and/or gross-margin results under a separate written compensation plan.
- Paid or reimbursed business travel and reasonable necessary business expenses, including approved transportation, lodging, mileage, parking, and tolls.
Physical and Work Requirements
The essential functions below must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Drive or fly to customer sites and work in public safety, commercial, rooftop, roadside, or outdoor environments.
- Safely lift and carry job-related tools, cable, solar components, batteries, and field equipment; use ladders and hand/power tools; pull cable; and work in confined or elevated areas when properly trained.
- Work outdoors in varying weather and use required personal protective equipment.
