OWN Charter Schools (OWNCS) seeks a Media Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) school, we are seeking an educator to collaborate with a dynamic team to deliver engaging, inquiry-based, and project-driven learning experiences in media literacy, digital storytelling, and creative communication for students in grades 6–8. The ideal candidate will design and facilitate developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with the IB MYP framework, fostering students’ creativity, critical thinking, and ability to communicate effectively across multiple media platforms.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid New York State teaching certification .
• Experience teaching middle school students (Grades K–8) or relevant experience working with adolescents.
• Knowledge of digital media, media literacy, digital storytelling, photography, video production, graphic design, or related media arts.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to integrate technology into instruction.
• Commitment to equitable, culturally responsive, student-centered teaching.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and school leadership.

Preferred

• New York State certification in one of the following areas:
  • Visual Arts (All Grades)
  • Educational Technology Specialist (if applicable)
  • Library Media Specialist
• Master's degree in Education, Media Arts, Communications, Film, Digital Media, or a related field.
• Experience with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) or inquiry-based instruction.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Google Workspace, video editing software, podcasting, photography, animation, or other digital media platforms.
